One Leg One Eye
En tant que membre fondateur du groupe folk expérimental Lankum, basé à Dublin, Ian Lynch explore les courants sous-jacents de la musique et du chant. Il trace une voie musicale à la fois sombre, mystérieuse et inquiétante, mais finalement transcendantale. Son nouveau projet solo, One Leg One Eye, le voit adopter une approche novatrice de l’arrangement musical, aboutissant à un son plus ancré dans l’esthétique brute du black metal de deuxième vague que dans le folk contemporain.
Le projet a vu le jour en 2021, une période durant laquelle Lynch a pu profiter de la liberté d’expérimenter et d’explorer différentes voies de conception sonore sans attentes ni pression. À la recherche de cadres intéressants pour enregistrer de la musique et recueillir des enregistrements sur le terrain, plusieurs environnements, extérieurs et intérieurs, ont imprégné l’esprit de la musique et en sont venus à représenter l’approche artistique et l’évolution de Lynch avec ce premier album singulier, …And Take The Black Worm With Me.
As a founding member of Dublin experimental folk group Lankum, Ian Lynch explores submerged leylines of music and song. Forging a musical path that is all at once dark, mysterious and foreboding, but ultimately transcendental. His new solo project One Leg One Eye sees him taking a fresh approach to musical arrangement culminating in a sound that is more rooted in the raw aesthetics of second wave black metal than contemporary folk.
The project was born across 2021, a period in which Lynch was able to enjoy the freedom of experimenting and explorating different paths of sound design without expectation or pressure. Seeking out interesting settings to record music and gather field recordings, there are several environments, external and interior, whose respective essence have seeped into the spirit of the music and come to represent Lynch’s artistic approach and development with this singular debut album, …And Take The Black Worm With Me.

Leur premier album a été composé à Berlin, au studio andereBaustelle (Einstürzende Neubauten, Pan Sonic, Keiji Haino), puis enregistré et produit en collaboration avec Seth Manchester (The Body, Mdou Moctar, Lingua Ignota) au studio Machines With Magnets à Pawtucket, dans le Rhode Island.
