Le lauréat du Concours OSM 2019 Bryan Cheng et le violon solode l’OSM Andrew Wan s’unissent dans un programme inusité qui prendra la forme d’un dialogue entre violon et violoncelle, avec comme pièce de résistance, la Sonate de Ravel. Celle-ci fut écrite en 1921 en hommage à Claude Debussy et fait preuve d’un lyrisme et d’une virtuosité notables. Mais avant, le public pourra découvrir la musique de Rebecca Clarke, ainsi que des œuvres pour violoncelle seul de Mark O’connor et Mark Summer, ce dernier exploitant l’instrument d’une façon tout à fait originale.
2019 OSM Competition winner Bryan Cheng and OSM Concertmaster Andrew Wan team up for an unusual program: a dialogue between the violin and the cello, complete with the pièce de résistance, Ravel’s Sonata, written in 1921 in homage to Claude Debussy and exuding an abundance of lyricism and virtuosity. Leading up to it, audiences will be regaled with their discovery of music by Rebecca Clarke and by works for solo cello by Mark O’Connor and Mark Summer, the latter exploiting the instrument’s potential in an entirely original way!
