Né Laouni Mouhid en 1981, La Fouine a grandi à Trappes, une banlieue éloignée de Paris. Jeune, il est bercé par une grande variété musicale, allant de Jacques Brel aux Jackson 5, avec une préférence marquée pour le rap, notamment Snoop Dogg et NTM. Il quitte l’école à 14 ans pour se consacrer au rap, et devient dealer de drogue à l’âge de 16 ans. En 2003, après s’être fait remarquer sur la scène rap grâce à un freestyle sur la mixtape Violences Urbaines, il signe avec Sony.
Born Laouni Mouhid in 1981, La Fouine grew up in Trappes, a distant suburb of Paris. The young Mouhid was raised listening to a variety of music, from Jacques Brel to the Jackson 5, with a fondness for rap acts like Snoop Dogg and NTM. He left school at 14 to become a rapper; he was a drug dealer by the age of 16. In 2003, having made a name for himself on the rap scene with a freestyle appearance on the mixtape Violences Urbaines, he was signed to Sony.
