Leur musique est aérienne, dépouillée, hors des cartes: « une nasse comme un filet flottant dans une eau chaude et le clair-obscur, au carrefour de plusieurs continents » (24 heures, 2023). Elle s’abreuve aux racines du blues des Mascareignes, qui sent le sel et la terre, aux couleurs créoles de l’océan Indien, avec des arômes de séga et de maloya, soutenus d’une touche de soul. Porté par la voix capiteuse et perforante de Yannick Nanette et le jeu de guitare sensible et incisif de Thierry Jaccard, le binôme, fondé en 2013, qui s’est entre autre produit en première partie de Johnny Halliday et de Ben Harper, affiche une complicité touchante forgée par des années de route et de concerts.
Their music is ethereal, stripped down and unconventional: “a trap like a net floating in warm water between light and shadow, at the crossroads of several continents,” (24 heures, 2023). It is nourished by the roots of Mascarene blues, which carries the scent of salt and earth, and by the Creole hues of the Indian Ocean, infused with the flavours of sega and maloya, and bolstered by a touch of soul. Founded in 2013, the TWO has opened for greats like Johnny Hallyday and Ben Harper, among others. Carried by Yannick Nanette’s heady, piercing voice and Thierry Jaccard’s sensitive, incisive guitar playing, the duo displays a heartwarming rapport forged by years of touring and performing together.
