Sous l’égide de l’association Mishket, qui œuvre à promouvoir l’excellence féminine dans les domaines culturel, social et artistique, la chorale féminine montréalaise Nagham convie le public à un spectacle unique, à la croisée des mondes.
Nagham, qui signifie « mélodie » en arabe, porte bien son nom. Réunissant des choristes venues d’horizons multiples, la formation tisse un répertoire où l’Orient et l’Occident cessent d’être deux rives opposées pour devenir les accords d’une même partition. D’une mélodie orientale ancienne aux harmonies polyphoniques occidentales, chaque chant est une escale, chaque note un pont jeté entre les cultures, les langues et les mémoires.
Dans une ambiance sobre et élégante, ces artistes réunies par la voix offrent bien plus qu’un concert : elles incarnent, par leur présence collective, un idéal de rassemblement et de transmission. Un moment suspendu où le chant devient un langage commun, et où chaque timbre, chaque nuance, révèle la richesse d’un patrimoine musical vivant, sans cesse réinventé par celles qui le portent.
Under the aegis of Association Mishket, which works to promote female excellence in the cultural, social, and artistic spheres, the Montreal women’s choir Nagham invites the public to a unique performance at the crossroads of worlds.
Nagham, which means ‘melody’ in Arabic, lives up to its name. Bringing together choristers from diverse backgrounds, the ensemble weaves a repertoire in which East and West cease to be opposing shores and become instead the chords of a single score. From an ancient Eastern melody to Western polyphonic harmonies, every song is a port of call, every note a bridge cast between cultures, languages, and memories.
In a sober, elegant atmosphere, these artists united by voice offer far more than a concert: through their collective presence, they embody an ideal of gathering and transmission. A suspended moment in which song becomes a common language, and every timbre, every nuance, reveals the richness of a living musical heritage, endlessly reinvented by the women who carry it.
