Jonathan Personne est l’œuvre solo de Jonathan Robert, chanteur et guitariste du groupe post-punk montréalais Corridor (Bonsound/Sub Pop). Son penchant pour l’enregistrement lo-fi et la complexification d’éléments simples à son image l’a mené sur des terrains insoupçonnés, au croisement de la dream pop, du rock psychédélique et du krautrock. Le chanteur et multi-instrumentiste s’est fait connaître en tant qu’artiste solo avec les albums Histoire naturelle (2019) et Disparitions (2020), qui ont reçu les éloges de La Presse, NPR, Exclaim! et bien d’autres. Jonathan Personne s’aventure maintenant dans un nouveau registre minimaliste, prêt à se surpasser une fois de plus avec Un homme sans visage, un nouvel extrait inspiré de la fin des années 60.
Son troisième album, le premier à paraître sur Bonsound, révèle un son légèrement plus propre et lisse, finement orchestré aux côtés du talentueux réalisateur Emmanuel Éthier, avec qui il a déjà collaboré sur Junior, le plus récent album de Corridor.
Jonathan Personne is the solo work of Jonathan Robert, singer and guitarist of Montreal post-punk band Corridor (Bonsound/Sub Pop). His penchant for lo-fi recording and the complexification of simple elements in his image led him to fresh territory, at the crossroads of dream pop, psychedelic rock and krautrock. The singer and multi-instrumentalist rose to prominence as a solo artist with the albums Histoire naturelle (2019) and Disparitions (2020), which received praise from La Presse, NPR, Exclaim! and many others. Jonathan Personne now ventures into a new minimalist register, ready to surpass himself once again with A Man Without a Face, a new excerpt inspired by the end of the 60s.
His third album, the first to appear on Bonsound, reveals a slightly cleaner and smoother sound, finely orchestrated alongside the talented director Emmanuel Éthier, with whom he has already collaborated on Junior, Corridor’s most recent album.
