Membre de la nation wendat, Malorie Yawenda Picard est née à Trois-Rivières, a grandi à Sherbrooke et œuvre pieds nus sur le territoire non cédé de Tiohtià:ke. Après des études en journalisme, elle est présentement à la maîtrise recherche-création en études littéraires à l’UQAM. Son projet de mémoire s’intitule La poésie orale pour offrir une expérience de l’art visuel aux personnes non voyantes. Avec son groupe rock Big Messe, elle a présenté à OFFTA – Festival d’arts vivants 2024 une première étape de création de son œuvre-performance interdisciplinaire, l’opéra punk Les rouges pour la fin, écrite in situ dans un centre d’art wendat. Artiste multi-non-disciplinée, son moteur d’exploration actuel se promène entre géopoétique et médiation, pour une décolonisation des manières d’appréhender le monde.
Malorie Yawenda Picard, a member of the Wendat Nation, was born in Trois-Rivières, grew up in Sherbrooke, and now works barefoot on the unceded territory of Tiohtià:ke. After studying journalism, she is currently pursuing a research-creation master’s degree in literary studies at UQAM. Her thesis project is titled Oral Poetry to Offer a Visual Art Experience to Blind Individuals. With her rock band Big Messe, she presented the first phase of her interdisciplinary performance work, the punk opera Les rouges pour la fin, at OFFTA – Festival of Living Arts 2024. The piece was written in situ at a Wendat art center. A multi-non-disciplinary artist, her current creative drive moves between geopoetics and mediation, aiming to decolonize ways of perceiving the world.
