Lysandre Ménard est une autrice-compositrice-interprète québécoise qui a d’abord été connue au sein du groupe The Loodies. Elle détient une maîtrise en piano d’accompagnement de la Royal Academy of Music de Londres. Elle a reçu divers prix, en plus de jouer au prestigieux Carnegie Hall. Outre sa carrière musicale, Lysandre a joué le rôle-titre dans La passion d’Augustine de Léa Pool. Elle a lancé, en septembre 2020, son premier EP de musique pop : Maison-Dieu.

Lysandre Ménard is a singer-songwriter from Quebec who first became known as a member of The Loodies. She holds a master’s degree in piano accompaniment from the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has been awarded numerous prizes in the past and has performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. In addition to her musical career, Lysandre is a decorated actress for her role in Lea Pool’s The Passion of Augustine. She released her first pop music EP under her first name in September 2020: Maison-Dieu.

Coup de coeur francophone présente : Yao & Govrache au Ministère

Poétique, Groovy, Funk par moment et Soul dans son ensemble, Yao, de sa voix grave, réussit à charmer par l’univers chaleureux de sa douce poésie et par son audace artistique. Son écriture imagée – empreinte d’une très grande sensibilité – nous rappelle la richesse textuelle du rap français de MC Solaar, d’Abdel Malik ou d’Oxmo Puccino, avec un côté pop éclectique – où les univers musicaux se succèdent et s’entrelacent à travers les frasques de ce poète.

De son côté, Govrache offre ie poésie moderne ainsi qu’une interprétation juste et incarnée. Il présente un ensemble aussi musical que poétique oscillant entre slam et hip-hop.

Poetic, Groovy, Funk at times and Soul on the whole, Yao, with his deep voice, succeeds in charming with the warm universe of his sweet poetry and his artistic audacity. His pictorial writing – marked by a great sensitivity – reminds us of the textual richness of the French rap of MC Solaar, Abdel Malik or Oxmo Puccino, with an eclectic pop side – where the musical universes follow one another and intertwine through the antics of this poet.

For his part, Govrache offers a modern poetry as well as a fair and embodied interpretation. He presents a set as musical as poetic oscillating between slam and hip-hop.

Just Mustard est un groupe de shoeggaze composé de cinq musiciens irlandais. Depuis la parution de son premier album « Wednesday » qui mélange trip-hop, noise rock et electro, le collectif n’a cessé de se forger une réputation comme l’une des nouvelles formations les plus excitantes d’Irlande. Ce même disque a été nommé comme album irlandais de l’année au « Choice music Prize » et a également permis à Just Mustard d’être signé chez Partisan Records, un label indépendant d’artistes incontournables tels que IDLES et Cigarettes After Sex.

Just Mustard is a five-piece shoegaze band from Ireland. Since the release of their debut album « Wednesday », which blends trip-hop, noise rock and electro, the collective has steadily built a reputation as one of Ireland’s most exciting new acts. The same album was nominated for Irish Album of the Year at the Choice Music Prize and also led to Just Mustard being signed to Partisan Records, an independent label for artists such as IDLES and Cigarettes After Sex.

Drogue : Spectacle Zéro Trouble au Ministère

C’est par ennui de mettre trop de guitares et trop d’amplis dans un truck pour aller jouer trop fort quelque part que la formation Drogue apparaît. Amis de longue date, Stéphane Papillon et Jean-Sébastien Chouinard (XLarge) avaient envie de ramener le rock énergique, revendicateur et explosif dans un paysage où le style a pris une tangente un peu plus cérébrale depuis quelques années. C’est ainsi en invitant Pierre Fortin (Les Dales Hawerchuk) à se joindre à l’exaltation que le groupe décide de se parker au studio Tone Bender pour travailler sur ce qui deviendra son premier EP éponyme. Fortement inspirée des Hives, des Sonics et d’Iggy Pop avec son rock décapant, la formation sature ses guitares autant que possible avant d’envoyer quelques esquisses à Ludwig Wax (Le Nombre, Démolition) qui viendra compléter le cocktail. Le chanteur, bien connu pour ses prestations scéniques déchaînées et téméraires, collabore avec Jean-Philippe Roy (Secrétaires Volantes, Le Nombre) pour l’écriture des textes de ce premier EP sur un ton désinvolte, corrosif et dadaïste. Comme un détonateur prêt à exploser ou à partir de tout côté, Drogue c’est une force de frappe, une critique sociale, de l’entertainment pur et brut qui arrache tout.

It was out of boredom of putting too many guitars and too many amps in a truck to go play too loud somewhere that the band Drogue appeared. Long time friends, Stéphane Papillon and Jean-Sébastien Chouinard (XLarge) wanted to bring back energetic and explosive rock in a landscape where the style has taken a more cerebral tangent for a few years. Thus, inviting Pierre Fortin (Les Dales Hawerchuk) to join in the excitement, the band decided to parker at the Tone Bender studio to work on what would become their first self-titled EP. Heavily inspired by the Hives, the Sonics and Iggy Pop with their blistering rock, the band saturates their guitars as much as possible before sending some sketches to Ludwig Wax (Le Nombre, Démolition) who will complete the cocktail. The singer, well known for his wild and reckless stage performances, collaborates with Jean-Philippe Roy (Secrétaires Volantes, Le Nombre) for the writing of the lyrics of this first EP in a casual, corrosive and Dadaist tone. Like a detonator ready to explode or to go off on any side, Drogue is a striking force, a social criticism, pure and raw entertainment that rips off everything.

Levi Dover Sextet au Upstairs

Né en 1990 à Montréal, Québec, Canada, la trajectoire musicale de Levi Dover a commencé à la basse électrique. Au fur et à mesure que sa passion pour la musique s’approfondissait, il a suivi une formation musicale formelle, s’immergeant finalement dans la tradition de la contrebasse de jazz et étudiant à l’Université McGill à Montréal. Il s’est depuis imposé comme une voix de soutien forte à la contrebasse, avec une approche à la fois ancrée et avant-gardiste. Il a partagé la scène avec des musiciens tels que Jean-Michel Pilc, Rafael Zaldivar, Rémi Bolduc, Jim Doxas, Kevin Dean, Joel Miller, Yannick Rieu et bien d’autres, tant de Montréal qu’à l’étranger.09

Born in 1990 in Montréal, Quebec, Canada, Levi Dover’s musical trajectory began on the electric bass at a young age. As his passion for music deepened, he went on to receive formal musical training, eventually becoming immersed in the tradition of jazz double bass and studying at McGill University in Montreal. He has since established himself as a strong supportive voice on the double bass, with an approach that is both grounded and forward-thinking.

Chipo Nyambiya au Club Balattou

Le mbira, piano à pouce dont l’origine remonte à quelques milliers d’années et dont la pratique appartient au patrimoine culturel immatériel de l’humanité de l’UNESCO, émet un son à nul autre pareil, émouvant, enlevant. À l’instar de sa compatriote Stella Chiweshe, Chipo Nyambiya est une des rares femmes à jouer de cet instrument magique. Confiante, positive, fonceuse, Chipo Nyambiya est de ces chanteuses dont les envolées vocales mettent à nu l’authenticité. Les chansons folk-pop de celle qui est diplômée en musicologie de l’université du Grand Zimbabwe ont pour vocation de rapprocher les gens.

The mbira, a thumb piano whose origins date back thousands of years and whose practice is part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage of humanity, emits a sound like no other, moving, and exciting. Like her compatriot Stella Chiweshe, Chipo Nyambiya is one of the few women to play this magical instrument. Confident, positive, dynamic, Chipo Nyambiya is one of those singers whose vocal flights of fancy expose her authenticity. The folk-pop songs of this musicology graduate from the University of Great Zimbabwe are meant to bring people together.
