SYML est le projet solo mélancolique de Brian Fennell, ancien leader du groupe Barcelona et natif de Seattle. Il s’est fait remarquer en 2017 avec la chanson Where’s My Love, qui est restée 20 semaines dans le classement Hot Rock Songs de Billboard. Il a élargi son audience avec son premier album éponyme en 2019 et a continué à affiner son son en sortant les EP You Knew It Was Me (2020) et DIM (2021), ainsi que le succès en streaming You and I en 2022. Son deuxième album, The Day My Father Died, produit par Phil Ek, est paru début 2023. Par la suite, il a sorti plusieurs EP, dont Infinity en 2024.

SYML is the moodier solo venture of former Barcelona frontman and Seattle native Brian Fennell. He broke through with his 2017 song “Where’s My Love,” which spent 20 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart. He gained wider attention with his 2019 full-length debut, SYML, and has continued to refine his sound, releasing the EPs You Knew It Was Me (2020) and DIM (2021), and the 2022 streaming hit “You and I.” His Phil Ek-produced sophomore album, The Day My Father Died, appeared in early 2023. After that, he released several EPs including 2024’s Infinity.

OfF Piknic : Peggy Gou au parc Jean-Drapeau

Faisant partie de la famille de Piknic Électronik, OfF Piknic est un « spin-off » en mode concert des rendez-vous dominicaux de Piknic. Prenant place au Parc Jean-Drapeau, les événements OfF Piknic sont le fruit d’une réinterprétation du site par les géants de l’industrie. Mettant en lumière l’ensemble de la scène électronique, ces événements ont lieu les vendredis et samedis, de la fin de l’après-midi à la tombée de la nuit.

Part of the Piknic Électronik family, OfF Piknic is a concert spin-off of the regular Piknic Sunday gatherings. Taking place at Parc Jean-Drapeau, OfF Piknic events are the fruit of a production takeover led by curated all-star line-ups. Highlighting the whole realm of the electronic scene, these events take place on Fridays and Saturdays, from late afternoon to dusk.

The flames, carefully tended by the “bibis, just like the attachment felt by those who have crossed their path, shine, comfort, and enliven. The embers radiate a contagious energy, a warmth that shields against the frostbite of a barren winter, ultimately overcome.

Les Freaks de Montréal (un bummage à Lucien Francoeur) (22h30)

Le mythique groupe, formé en 1971 change la donne de l’univers musical au Québec avec ses trois albums déferlés entre ’74 et ’76. Une poésie de ruelle, crue, réelle, sur fond de rocaille sophistiquée et cinglante. En 2005, l’ami de longue date Ron McGregor reforme le groupe autour du guitariste OG Jacques Racine et son chanteur/poète Lucien Francoeur. Le collectif étoilé allie des membres de Voïvod, GrimSkunk, Groovy Aardvark, Tricky Woo, entre Aut’ et enregistre Chansons d’Épouvante. Une relecture collaborative des morceaux les plus marquants du répertoire. Ce Best Of servira de célébration vivante entre freaks de toutes générations partout en province pour les quinze années à suivre. 2025. Les Freaks de Montréal se regroupent pour rendre bummage à ses deux capitaines disparus à quelques jours d’intervalle en 2024.. Ils seront accompagnés d’invité.es brillants et scintillants, ‘teindus’ chacun à leur manière par l’influence de la musique et le propos hors piste de ce fauve indomptable du rock québecois, devenu légende.

The mythical band, formed in 1971, changed the course of Quebec’s musical universe with three albums released between ’74 and ’76. Alleyway poetry, raw and real, set against a backdrop of sophisticated, biting rock. In 2005, longtime friend Ron McGregor reformed the band around original guitarist Jacques Racine and its singer/poet Lucien Francoeur. The star-studded collective brought together members of Voïvod, GrimSkunk, Groovy Aardvark, Tricky Woo, Aut’Chose and more, and recorded Chansons d’Épouvante: a collaborative re-reading of the most striking pieces from the catalog. This Best Of became a living celebration among freaks of all generations across the province for the next fifteen years. 2025. The Freaks of Montreal reunite to pay tribute to their two captains, who passed away just days apart in 2024. They will be joined by brilliant, dazzling guests, each marked in their own way by the music and the off-the-rails vision of this untamable beast of Quebec rock, now a legend.

Taverne Tour : Blesse + Sunglaciers au Pub West Shefford

Décrit comme un groupe « arty post-everything » (Cups N Cakes), Sunglaciers brouille les frontières entre un mélodisme léché et une expérimentation opaque, entre un romantisme de bon augure et une dissidence débridée. Bien qu’ancrées dans les étranges réalités de notre époque, leurs chansons sont traversées par un optimisme certain, nourri d’éléments psychédéliques savamment dosés et de rythmes vibrants, donnant naissance à une forme singulière de proto-pop kaléidoscopique. Depuis sa formation, le quatuor a déployé son spectacle intense, immersif et effréné dans de nombreux foyers alternatifs, tournant abondamment au Canada, aux États-Unis et au Royaume-Uni. Dans la foulée des albums encensés Foreign Bodies, Subterranea et Regular Nature, la formation calgarienne revient aujourd’hui avec Spiritual Content (27 mars 2026, via Mothland), approfondissant les clairs-obscurs du post-punk tout en s’attachant, avec humilité, à redéfinir son identité sonore.

“Arty post-everything” (Cups N Cakes) group Sunglaciers’ music blurs the boundaries between polished melodicism and opaque experimentation, auspicious romanticism and unbridled dissent. Though anchored in the strange realities of our times, their songs are laced with a certain optimism through well-calculated psych elements and vibrant rhythms, making for a unique strand of kaleidoscopic proto-pop. Since forming, the four-piece have brought their intense, immersive and fast-paced live set to a number of alternative hotbeds, touring extensively in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Following up on critically-acclaimed full-length efforts Foreign Bodies, Subterranea, and Regular Nature, the Calgary outfit now returns with Spiritual Content (March 27th, 2026 via Mothland), further exploring the chiaroscuro depths of post-punk, while also humbly setting out to redefine their sound.

Après avoir longtemps exploré les textures numériques et les mirages de la pop moderne, blesse revient à la base: un band de rock. Celui des amplis trop forts, des refrains qui collent et des amitiés cimentées dans le vacarme. Formé à la suite de Zen Bamboo, le trio composé de Léo LeBlanc, Xavier Touikan et Charles-Antoine Olivier (CAO) s’est d’abord complètement abandonné dans la production maison et l’expérimentation. Aujourd’hui, blesse, épaulé par Indy Bouvier (Bouvier Normal), veux retrouver les riffs de guitare, la sueur et la force du nombre.

After years spent exploring digital textures and the mirages of modern pop, blesse is coming back to basics: a rock band. The kind with amps that are too loud, choruses that stick, and friendships forged in the noise. Formed in the aftermath of Zen Bamboo, the trio — Léo LeBlanc, Xavier Touikan, and Charles-Antoine Olivier (CAO) — first dove head-first into home-studio production and experimentation. Today, with the support of Indy Bouvier (Bouvier Normal), blesse wants to return to guitar riffs, sweat, and the power of playing together.

Salut, je m’appelle Christopher Pravdica. Je joue de la basse et je chante. Mon projet s’appelle We Owe. Je pense que c’est de la musique rock. Je joue de la basse dans le groupe Swans depuis quinze ans, et dans bien d’autres formations encore.

Hi I’m Christopher Pravdica. I play bass and sing. My thing is called.We Owe. i think it’s rock music. I have played bass in the band Swans for the past 15 years and many many more.

Shunk (22h30)

Le groupe montréalais, Shunk, vous offre un son éclectique et enivrant, composé de leurs influences variées (post-punk, dreampop, shoegaze, indie pop, opéra). La chanteuse, Gabrielle incarne de multiples personnalités, passant de cris frôlant le hardcore à des moments de chant lyrique vulnérable. Ces sauts d’humeurs musicaux sont propulsés par la batterie d’inspiration jazz d’Adrian, la guitare basse aux accents mélodiques et accrocheurs de Julia et la guitare chatoyante de Peter.

Montreal’s Shunk seamlessly blend a myriad of musical influences {Post-Punk, Dreampop, Shoegaze, lndie Pop, Opera) to form their own specific sonic palette. Vocalist Gabrielle is able to embody multiple personas physically and vocally, singing opera one minute and yelling in borderline hardcore moments the next. This is all grounded by a honed rhythm section consisting of Adrian and Julia, and shimmering, synth inspired guitar parts from Peter.

FACS (23h30)

Le trio de Chicago FACS utilise le minimalisme et l’espace pour façonner un art rock abstrait et moderne. Le groupe est né de la dissolution des artistes du label Kranky, Disappears, et sa formation actuelle réunit trois anciens membres du groupe. Fort de six albums studio à ce jour, FACS s’apprête à faire paraître Wish Defense le 7 février 2025.

Chicago trio FACS use minimalism and space to create abstract, modern art rock. The group evolved out of the dissolution of kranky artists Disappears & the current lineup features three former members of the group. Now on their sixth studio album, the group is set to release Wish Defense on February 7th, 2025.
