Arielle Soucy at the Sala Rossa

Arielle Soucy is a Montreal-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer active since 2019. There’s something luminous and benevolent about the gentleness that emanates from Arielle Soucy’s music. This bittersweet fusion of soul and psychedelic folk, driven by gorgeous vocal arrangements, shines on the artist’s first two self-released EPs, the enveloping Shame and Waterway and Unresolved Collection.
The artist is back with a full-length debut album, this time predominantly French, recorded by Arielle herself and then finalized at Breakglass studio with the help of her co-producer Alexandre Larin (Larynx). Il n’y a rien que je ne suis pas, an 11-song opus, takes us to the heart of her organic, minimalist universe. The country interpretation of his guitar playing, combined with his expressive vocal melodies, is inspired by the codes of the folk tradition, but in a contemporary, personal and experimental way. This blend throws listeners into a timeless, magical zone where the artist humbly confides in us how she tries to detach herself from her ego.

Arielle Soucy est une chanteuse, multi-instrumentiste, auteure et compositrice montréalaise active depuis 2019. La douceur qui émane de la musique d’Arielle Soucy possède quelque chose de lumineux et de bienveillant. Cette fusion douce-amère entre soul et folk psychédélique, menée par de magnifiques arrangements vocaux, brille sur les deux premiers EPs autoproduits de l’artiste, les enveloppants Shame and Waterway et Unresolved Collection.

L’artiste est de retour avec un premier album complet, majoritairement francophone cette fois et enregistré par Arielle elle-même, puis finalisé au studio Breakglass avec l’aide de son co-réalisateur Alexandre Larin (Larynx). Il n’y a rien que je ne suis pas, opus de 11 chansons, nous transporte au cœur de son univers organique et minimaliste. L’interprétation country de son jeu de guitare, mêlée à ses mélodies vocales expressives s’inspire des codes de la tradition folk, mais de manière actuelle, personnelle et expérimentale. Ce mélange jette les auditeurs dans une zone intemporelle et magique où l’artiste nous confie humblement comment elle tente de se détacher de son ego.

Takuya Kuroda is a Japanese jazz trumpeter and arranger. Kuroda came to music by joining his school’s big band. Later, he frequently visited jam sessions in Kobe.

Ivo Dimchev at the Sala Rossa

Ivo Dimchev is a theatre maker, choreographer, visual artist, singer-songwriter, and queer activist from Bulgaria. His work is an extreme and colorful mix of performance art, dance, theater, music, painting, and photography. He is the author of more than 40 stage performances and has received numerous international awards for dance and theater. Most of his stage performances are inluded in his book Stage Works 2002-2016. He has also written more than 100 original songs all included in his Songbook. His work has been presented throughout Europe, South and North America, and Asia.

Ivo Dimchev est un créateur de théâtre, un chorégraphe, un artiste visuel, un auteur-compositeur-interprète et un activiste queer originaire de Bulgarie. Son travail est un mélange extrême et coloré d’art de la performance, de danse, de théâtre, de musique, de peinture et de photographie. Il est l’auteur de plus de 40 performances scéniques et a reçu de nombreux prix internationaux pour la danse et le théâtre. La plupart de ses performances scéniques sont incluses dans son livre Stage Works 2002-2016. Il a également écrit plus de 100 chansons originales, toutes incluses dans son Songbook. Ses œuvres ont été présentées dans toute l’Europe, en Amérique du Nord et du Sud et en Asie.

Hailing from Alma, Lac-Saint-Jean, Marie Céleste is a band that blends folk, rock, jazz and alternative influences. With their zany arrangements, gigahit vocal harmonies and over-the-top lyrics, this quintet is undeniably music to listen to with your ears. The ensemble is made up of Simon Duchesne (guitars, vocals), Philippe Plourde (keyboard, vocals) and Zachary Tremblay (guitars).

Originaire d’Alma, au Lac-Saint-Jean, Marie Céleste est un groupe qui mélange des influences folk, rock, jazz et alternatives. Avec ses arrangements carrément zinzins, ses harmonies vocales giga-huppées et ses paroles trop chouettes, ce quintette joue indéniablement de la musique qui s’écoute avec des oreilles. Etienne Dufresne fait des efforts is 10 songs written as the magic surrounding my first album, “Excalibur”, was fading and giving way to a reality I’d been neglecting.

It’s about my relationship with my family and myself. It’s about finding yourself old when you’ve still got so much to live for. It’s about my internal contradictions, the 1,000 polarized debates in my head, and apple pie. A constant battle between dogs, cats and everything in between.

Etienne Dufresne fait des efforts is an album whose only concept is a long, honest title. The fruit of the reflections of a guy who decides to change for the better, and who’s going to have to work hard to get there.

Etienne Dufresne fait des efforts, c’est 10 chansons écrites alors que la magie entourant mon premier album “Excalibur” s’estompait pour laisser place à une réalité que je négligeais.

Ça parle de mon rapport à ma famille et à moi-même. Ça parle de se trouver vieux alors qu’il nous reste tellement de choses à vivre. J’y aborde mes contradictions internes, les 1000 débats polarisés qui habitent ma tête en passant par les tartes aux pommes. Une bataille constante entre les chiens, les chats et tout ce qui se trouve au milieu.

Etienne Dufresne fait des efforts est un album qui a pour seul concept un long titre honnête. Le fruit des réflexions d’un gars qui décide de changer pour le mieux et qui va devoir travailler fort pour y arriver.
