The first LP album from minimalist synth duo Boy Harsher kicks off with a sultry intro, swiftly moving into the clinical coldwave rhythms of “Realness”. Jae Matthews’ haunting vocals leave trails of recited prose, sombre yet vibrant in essence, while Gus Muller travels alongside with sensual electronic heartbeats. “Deep Well” suggests a denser New Order, while lyrics like “I wanna make it hurt more / I wanna make you dance” from “Morphine” sum up the paradoxical nature of the pair, subdued yet frantic and very danceable.
