Visible Cloaks – Paradessence

· by Frédéric Cardin

If you love electro textures that pulse lightly, vibrate delicately, and almost fleshly tremble, you will greatly enjoy Paradessence by the experimental electro duo from Portland (Oregon), Visible Cloaks (Ryan Carlile and Spencer Doran in real life). The two artists are occasionally accompanied by vocals and acoustic instruments (violin, piano).

The soundscapes generated by the duo are at times gurgling like a trickle of water, sparkling like fragments of light piercing through a nocturnal canopy, sometimes lush like a fantastic garden.

The overall atmosphere, crafted with great care, is peaceful and deliberately soothing, beneficial. The language of Visible Cloaks poetically and finely blends the calm slowness of ambient music with the colourism of transhumanist impressionism. Far from the dark clichés of a depressive dystopia, Paradessence invites us to travel through rather optimistic settings that one might imagine accompanying a futuristic novel bathed in a tranquil and inviting utopia.

Solarpunk rather than Cyberpunk. Experimental music that feels good.
