Drummer, beatmaker, and bandleader, American jazzman Makaya McCraven has perfectly understood the creative challenges of the digital age. By way of hip hop beatmaking, electronic production and electroacoustic composition, this visionary work results from collages, filters and montages that are absolutely in the spirit of jazz, through their instrumental extensions and the openness to improvisation. Of all the recent experiments in the new scenes of Los Angeles, London and Chicago, McCraven’s music is the most visionary. The efficiency of the groove, the conceptual content, and the diversity of the tools and instruments involved open up a whole new avenue!
