I first heard TAAHLIAH’s pop girl remixes on SoundCloud and subsequently played them to death over the summer. While she’s got the DJing and rowdy club remixes down to a science, this album shows off a softer side of TAAHLIAH alongside the boisterous bangers.
The SOPHIE influence is definitely there in the standout dance tracks “Boys” and “Eylvyu” which have the liquid-bass brashness that I love in her DJ sets, yet I was surprised to find that my favorites were the softer, sensitive pop-oriented ones. “2018” is a pared-down pop ballad you just need to listen to while staring out the bus window and getting sucked into a nostalgia black hole.
The refrain on “Angel” is so sweet and delicate, I picture myself floating on a cotton cloud with the innocence of a Precious Moments figurine.
