The death of a child, undoubtedly the greatest tragedy a parent can experience, became one of the essential ingredients of a masterful work, anchored in the aesthetics of the Bad Seeds, in Nick Cave’s sharp pen and in his morbid crooning. Visionary in its production and execution, the album Skeleton Tree is the middle link in a trilogy conjured by the Australian writer, composer and performer, magnified by his inseparable companion Warren Ellis. The adventure began in 2013 with Push the Sky Away and ended in 2019 with Ghosteen, three projects from the same source point, at the confluence of avant-rock, electronic ambient and elegiac balladry.
