Papagroove – Y’annonce beau!

· by Frédéric Cardin

Papa grooves hard with Y’annonce beau! (which translates as something like ‘’weather forecast looks good for tomorrow!’’), the 5th opus (including an EP) from Montreal afrobeat/funk/rock band Papagroove. Y’annonce beau! is a panorama of the comic, sarcastic and symbolic possibilities of the superficial conversations that each individual imposes on himself or others, and bears witness to the band’s well-assumed musical maturity. Y’annonce beau! features a succession of vocal and instrumental pieces that strike a fine balance between the various stylistic influences and the quality of the performances. The lyrics have bite and beautiful turns of phrase. It sounds great, and makes you want to dance. Having fun and making good music, check!

Papagroove will be performing at Bar le Ritz PDB on 17 November as part of Montreal’s OFF Mundial’s Groovy Night, alongside Ramon Chicharron, Tina Leon and Zale Seck.
