Nick Dourado, James Goddard, Mustafa Rafiq, Jairus Sharif – We Want Rain SOON!!!

These are four no-holds-barred improvisers from the Canadian experimental/avant-garde scene coming together here. An unexpected encounter that was captured on tape and is now offered as a surprise to the most hip music lovers. e.s. That said, don’t get too comfortable because it doesn’t even last fifteen minutes. Two tracks of about seven-ish minutes where Montrealer James Goddard, Haligonian (Halifax) Nick Dourado, and Edmontonians Mustafa Rafiq and Jarius Sharif create contemplative atmospheres in which ephemeral and whispered sounds float. For those who experienced the evening of sonic frenzy at the last Suoni per il popolo festival, where the four individuals, with plenty of friends, practically blew the roof off the Casa del popolo, this ultra-economical EP will seem like an insufficient crumb. Certainly. But the memory of the creative action of such individuals remains very little available. And what’s more, we are exclusively given to hear a facet that tends to be visited but quickly transformed into something much more incendiary during these artists’ concerts. Let’s enjoy it to the full, hoping that one day we will have more.
