After two now unavailable 7”, the instrumental combo Los Bitchos announces an early spring with their very first album. Produced by Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand), Let The Festivities Begin! starts with a more polished replay of their song “The Link Is About To Die,” a track that announces the colour of what will follow on the 10 other tracks of the album.
Made up of four musicians (5 not so long ago) from Australia, Sweden, Uruguay and England, the London-based internationalist group mixes Argentine cumbia, Peruvian chicha, Anatolian psychedelia, Californian surf-rock and a touch of sparkling indie-pop with palpable pleasure. The result is a festive and groovy cocktail where reverberating guitars, a keytar and a solid rhythm section colored with timbales, bongos, shakers and cowbells unfold. In short, an irresistible mix and just sweet enough to make us forget the cold and the nasty virus. Los Bitchos have clearly found the right schtik to stand out – they exploit it very well – and, frankly, who can complain??
