The American singer Solana Imani Rowe, better known under her pseudonym SZA, dropped a barrel bomb of relaxed and confident sensuality in the summer of 2017. It was one of the most anticipated albums of the year, following three EPs that got people talking, and with good reason. From the very first bars of “Supermodel”, an isolated, rather lo-fi guitar riff seemingly suited to an indie rock-out rather than the opening of an R&B album, it’s clear that we’re dealing with an original artist with a golden voice and strong words, who does things her way, without compromise.
