One might have thought that Antoine Corriveau had plumbed the depths of doleful with Les Ombres longues in 2014. Nay! Corriveau (a surname that evokes his possible ancestor, in her cage in Pointe-Lévy) returned in 2016 with Cette chose…, to the great delight of those fond of misery’s company. Among the highlights are string arrangements reminiscent of Joseph Racaille’s on Bashung’s Fantaisie militaire, a moving duet with Fanny Bloom, and panic-stricken brass on “Musique pour la danse”.
