The winner of the Opus Composer of the Year Award in 2019 may be prolific, but the music lover who doesn’t have the chance to hear her music in concert has only a handful of records to choose from. And even then, these are most often with pieces by other composers. But not on this one. Bookburners, which includes five pieces from the beginning of the decade on CD and DVD, is an excellent introduction to her work. Included here are her famous Hitchcock Études where, using ruptures, glitches, scratch-video and jagged rhythms, she deconstructs the world of the master of suspense. Yours to discover.
