Known under the pseudonym Arca, Venezuela’s Alejandro Ghersi created a masterpiece in 2017 that propelled him into the firmament of the electro elite. Two years earlier, the music world was shaken by Arca’s Mutant, and also by his talents as a producer of creative pop and hip hop (Björk, Kanye West, FKA Twigs, Frank Ocean, Kelela etc.), Arca has since continued to progress as a composer, musician and even singer. This homonymous album magnifies his resolutely androgynous aesthetic, accompanied by a singular cohabitation of noisy violence, electronic sophistication and melodic grace. This brilliantly organized chaos is a bridge between the world of electroacoustics and the avant-pop trends of electro.
