Long Gradus est le résultat de la préoccupation constante de Davachi pour les accords, les cadences et les sons soutenus. Il est conçu pour ralentir considérablement les mouvements cognitifs de l’auditeur et de l’instrumentiste, ce qui donne une impression de rythme très différente de celle de la notation mensurale.
Suoni is delighted to present an atomizing sonic journey with Quatuor Bozzini and Sarah Davachi, performing Davachi’s “Long Gradus”. “Long Gradus” explores the spatial experience of harmony through a system of septimal just intonation and baroque scordatura. Long Gradus is the result of Davachi’s constant preoccupation with chords, cadences and sustained sounds. It is designed to slow down considerably the cognitive movements of both listener and instrumentalist, giving an impression of rhythm very different from that of mensural notation.
