Ayant plus d’une corde à son arc, Redwan El Asmar est un artiste aux talents multiples qui s’est forgé une image et une notoriété dans le monde musical marocain et arabe. À la fois chanteur, musicien et compositeur, il aspire à réinventer la musique de son pays.

Avec sa voix suave et limpide, il revisite les différents répertoires du patrimoine de son pays : melhoun, cet art de la poésie composé en dialecte marocain et destiné à être chanté, mais aussi chgouri, gnawa, tout y passe! Le tout agrémenté d’une instrumentation traditionnelle teintée de jazz et d’influences occidentales. Chaque chanson constitue l’occasion de renouveler la beauté de l’héritage musical marocain, qu’il soit savant ou traditionnel, musulman ou juif. Il faut dire que Redwan El Asmar sait sublimer la douceur et les subtilités de sa langue, distiller l’évidente émotion de chacune de ses mélodies.

Présenté sous la direction de la grande chanteuse Leïla Gouchi, en partenariat avec le centre culturel marocain Dar Al Maghrib, ce spectacle saura vous ravir le cœur en une succession de trouvailles mélomanes.

Get ready for an evening of colourful and moving Moroccan song! Singer, instrumentalist and composer Redwan El Asmar has earned an enviable reputation in the world of Moroccan and Arab music. With his captivating performances, this multi-talented artist is on a quest to reinvent his country’s musical traditions. El Asmar will lend his smooth, burnished voice to several genres of Moroccan repertoire, including the Malhun, a type of sung poetry that originated in Morocco, as well as Chgouri and Gnawa music. His instrumental arrangements are tinged with both jazz and Eastern influences, with each song offering new insights into Moroccan musical heritage, be it classical or traditional, Arab-Andalusian or contemporary. Known for his ability to convey the beauty and subtleties of his language, Redwan El Asmar distills pure emotion out of every melody. Presented under the musical direction of the renowned singer Leïla Gouchi and in partnership with the Dar Al Maghrib Moroccan Cultural Centre, this concert of lyrical treasures is sure to lift your spirit.
