Le duo pop goth fauxcils creuse et tamise le passé pondéré de Jenn Herd et Dunstan Topp, deux artistes francophones de Sudbury, Ontario. Chargé de touche froid, mode androgène et de synthétiseurs, fauxcils brûlent un paysage sonore luxuriant de machines séquencé, d’instruments chorusé et de visages peints.

Goth pop duo fauxcils excavate and sift the weighted pasts of Jenn Herd and Dunstan Topp, two francophone artists from Sudbury, Ontario. Fueled from cold love, androgynous fashion and synthesizers, fauxcils burn a lush soundscape of sequin sequences, drum machines, chorused instruments and painted faces.

Swim Team est un groupe de rock 3 pièces originaire de Vancouver. Durant ces 3 dernières années le groupe a passé tout leur temps à travaillé sur leur troisième album Hurricane, qui incorpore des éléments de pop, de dance musique ainsi que d’autres expérimentations électroniques.

Swim Team is a three-piece rock band from Vancouver, BC. Over the last 3 years, the band has been working on their third full-length album “Hurricane”, which incorporates elements of Pop and Dance music, as well as further electronic experimentation.

Gorgeous est un groupe de noise pop basé à New York. Leur premier album, Egg, est sorti en 2019 avec Sad Cactus Records–quelques singles se sont matérialisés en 2021 et un deuxième album complet vous chatouillera les tympans dans un avenir pas trop lointain.

Gorgeous is a two-piece noise pop band from New York City. The band’s first full length ‘Egg’ was released in 2019 by Sad Cactus Records; a couple of singles materialized in 2021 and a second full length album is nearing completion and will be tickling ear drums in the not too distant future.

Jab Djab est un groupe tropical basé à Montréal, composé de trois musiciens originaires de Trinidad et Tobago.

Pionniers des musiques du monde à Montréal, ils sont Hot, hot, hot, à l’image du tube de The Merrymen, qui trône en haut de leur répertoire. Reggae, soca, calypso, zouk… Leur musique cabriole d’une île antillaise à l’autre, avec une touche de pop américaine. Comme le jab, diable taquin, personnage carnavalesque des Caraïbes, ce sont des amuseurs publics. Un son toujours énergique et haut en couleur.

Jab Djab is a Montreal-based tropical band made up of three musicians originally from Trinidad and Tobago.

Pioneers of world music in Montreal, they are hot, hot, hot, like the Merrymen’s hit, which is at the top of their repertoire. Reggae, soca, calypso, zouk… Their music capers from one Caribbean island to another, with a touch of American pop. Like the jab, teasing devil, carnival character of the Caribbean, they are public entertainers. A sound always energetic and colorful.

Le jour, Colin Hunter est le président-fondateur du Groupe de Voyage Sunwing, une des plus importantes compagnies de voyages loisirs au Canada. Le soir, il assouvit sa passion pour la musique. Amoureux des pièces du répertoire crooner-jazz des années 1950, il a réalisé plusieurs albums et a partagé la scène québécoise avec la talentueuse chanteuse invitée Kim Richardson au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal et à la salle Astral sans oublier ses performances au Capitole de Québec, Upstairs Jazz Bar, House of Jazz. Cet entrepreneur-crooner prouve que suivre ses passions, ça peut mener loin!

By day, Colin Hunter is the Founding President of the Sunwing Travel Group. By night, Colin pursues his passion for music. A huge fan of the 1950s crooner-jazz repertoire, he has launched a few CDs and has hit the stage many times with the ever-talented vocal singer Kim Richardson, not to mention his upbeat performances at the Salle Astral, House of Jazz, Upstairs Jazz Bar and Capitole de Québec. Tinkertoy Fog Machine est un groupe Canadien indie pop composé de Tyrin Kelly et Kai Thorpe. Ils jouent aussi dans les groupes Boyhood et Crasher. Le duo s’est recontré en Lycée à Ottawa et s’est lié à travers des groupes comme Black Moth Super Rainbow et Cleaners from Venus.

Tinkertoy Fog Machine is a Canadian indie pop group, composed of Tyrin Kelly and Kai Thorpe who can also be found in playing in Boyhood and Crasher. Originally from Ottawa, the pair met in high school and bonded over bands like Black Moth Super Rainbow and Cleaners from Venus.

Cobra & Vulture is a guitar-drums sorta-trio with a bizarre but lovely combination of guitar tapping, double-stop riffing and soulful harmonies. This is the band’s first show after a 10 year hiatus and you should be there because IYKYK.

Tutti! Tous sur scène avec l’Orchestre Métropolitain

Le Tutti est un événement unique, inspiré de PlayIn, un concept adapté par l’Orchestre de Philadelphie. Pour l’occasion, l’Orchestre Métropolitain invite les musicien.ne.s amateur.trice.s de tous âges à se joindre à ses propres musicien.ne.s le temps d’une répétition. Il s’agit d’une chance unique de partager la scène de la Maison symphonique avec des musiciens professionnels, passionnés et chevronnés! 

Lors de ce Tutti organisé dans le cadre des Journées de la culture 2022, les vents seront à l’honneur! Le tuba solo de l’OM et chef d’orchestre Alain Cazes, qui possède une vaste expérience en direction d’orchestre à vents, dirigera l’ensemble formé de 45 musicien.ne.s amateurs et 15 musicien.ne.s de l’OM. Le public est invité à assister gratuitement à la répétition de cet orchestre éphémère d’une durée de 60 minutes à la Maison symphonique de Montréal. Les mélomanes pourront également découvrir le talent de l’un.e des chef.fe.s de l’Académie de direction d’orchestre de l’OM.

It’s a unique opportunity for them to share the stage at the Maison symphonique with professional, passionate and seasoned musicians! 

This season’s first Tutti, organized for the Journées de la culture 2022, is a celebration of wind instruments! Alain Cazes, the OM’s first tuba and conductor with a wealth of experience leading wind ensembles, will direct the group of 45 amateur and 15 OM musicians. This one-time event will be open to the public. The rehearsal will last for 60 minutes and take place at the Maison symphonique de Montréal. Music lovers will also be able to discover new talent from the OM’s Orchestral Conducting Academy. 

The Orchestre Métropolitain has invited amateur musicians of all ages to share the stage with some of its very own musicians for a large wind orchestra rehearsal conducted by Alain Cazes, in collaboration with conductors from our Orchestral Conducting Academy. Join us on October 1 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Maison symphonique by filling out the registration form below! This activity is part of the Journées de la culture.

Ambroise est le projet de chansons d’Eugénie Jobin, musicienne, compositrice et réalisatrice vivant et travaillant à Tio’tià:ke (Montréal). L’album « Bienvenue », paru en mars 2022, est dédié à la poète québécoise Geneviève Desrosiers.

Ambroise is the song project of Tio’tià:ke (Montréal)-based musician and composer Eugénie Jobin. Her second album « Bienvenue », released in march 2022, is dedicated to the poetry of Geneviève Desrosiers.

oui merci est un quintette d’indie-rock, errant entre les rues d’Hochelaga et le lit douillet de la rivière L’Assomption.

Au printemps 2021, le groupe participe aux demi-finales des Francouvertes, en plus de faire paraître son premier EP «chaque chose», un opus qui oscille entre la chanson folk lo-fi et l’énergie rock maximaliste.

Alexia Avina est une artiste expérimentale ambient-folk née et élevée en Asie du Sud-Est, auparavant basée à Montréal et vivant maintenant à New York. Son album le plus récent A Little Older a été publié par Lost Map (Royaume-Uni) et capture beaucoup de ce qui la rend si spéciale – boucles minimales, arythmiques et basées sur le tempo, crochets mélodiques éthérés, beauté, espace et retenue.

Alexia Avina is an experimental ambient-folk artist born and raised in Southeast Asia, previously based in Montreal and now living in NYC. Her most recent album A Little Older was released by Lost Map (UK) and captures much about what makes her so special – minimal, arrhythmic and tempo-based looping, ethereal melodic hooks, beauty, spaciousness and restraint.

His His est le projet musical de l’artiste Aidan Belo. Il a créé ce projet après avoir déménagé dans sa ferme familiale dans le but d’évoquer quelque chose de rural et d’honnête, en enregistrant entièrement sur cassette.

His His is the recording project of Toronto-based artist Aidan Belo. He created this project after relocating to his family’s hobby farm outside of the city in an attempt to evoke something rural and honest, recording entirely to tape in the empty spaces of an old wooden barn on the farm.

Ariane Racicot Trio au Upstairs Jazz

Sacrée Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada 2022-2023, Ariane Racicot est une pianiste et compositrice de jazz montréalaise qui a paru son premier album Envolée en mai dernier. Sa musique combine des styles de jazz en trio acoustique avec les styles métal et rock progressif. Il s’agit de compositions originales qui mélangent des genres tels que le jazz modal, le latin jazz, le jazz fusion et le jazz métal. Le jeu d’Ariane s’inspire entre autres de celui d’Hiromi Uehara, de Tigran Hamasyan, de Chick Corea et de Keith Jarrett.
Elle a eu l’occasion de présenter son premier album en première partie de Wynton Marsalis et le Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra dans le cadre du festival international de jazz de Montréal, le 30 juin dernier, à la salle Wilfrid-Pelletier.
Ancienne élève de Lorraine Desmarais, Luc Beaugrand, John Roney et Simon Denizart, elle complète cette année sa maitrise à McGill avec Jean-Michel Pilc.

Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada 2022-2023, Ariane Racicot is a Montreal jazz pianist and composer who released her first album Envolée last May. A former student of Lorraine Desmarais, Luc Beaugrand, John Roney and Simon Denizart, she is completing her master’s degree at McGill this year with Jean-Michel Pilc.

POP Montréal présente Patrick Holland, Poolblood, Wild Black et Bells Larsen

Le musicien et producteur montréalais Patrick Holland est principalement connu pour ses sorties électroniques sous des pseudonymes tels que Project Pablo et Jump Source. Pour accompagner sa première incursion complète dans l’indie pop à la guitare – You’re The Boss – vient un groupe de 3 musiciens.

Montreal based musician & producer Patrick Holland is primarily known for his electronic releases under aliases such as Project Pablo and Jump Source. To accompany his first full length foray into guitar-driven indie pop – You’re The Boss – comes a live 3 piece band.

Le premier EP de Poolblood, Yummy, a été produit par Shamir (auteur-compositeur acclamé par la critique, avec XL Recordings et Father/Daughter Records) et est sorti sous le label américain Accidental Popstar Records. Yummy a reçu des éloges de Jezebel, Flood Magazine, Clash et plus encore.

Ses prestations réunissent des éléments électroniques et organiques pour créer un paysage sonore à la fois rêveur et entraînant qui emportera facilement votre corps vers la piste de danse.

Wild Black blends influences of disco, 80’s and 90’s dance, pop, rock, and rnb into her nostalgic and genre fluid sound. Her captivating live show combines electronic elements with live instrumentation to create a dreamy yet upbeat, infectious soundscape, luring your body straight to the dance floor.

Bells Larsen (they/he/il) est un auteur-compositeur-interprète habitant à Montréal. Par ses chansons, il sait tisser des paroles cathartiques à des mélodies mémorables, faisant lumière sur la singularité des expériences universelles. La sortie de son premier album, enregistré avec du soutien du Conseils des Arts du Canada, est prévue pour cet automne. Cette musique explorera le deuil de l’amour queer.

Bells Larsen (they/he/il) is a Montreal-based singer/songwriter. Larsen’s songs weave together deeply cathartic lyrics and memorable melodies, distilling the personal within the universal. In the fall, Larsen will release their debut record, which was made possible with support from the Canada Council for the Arts. This music explores the theme of queer loss in its many guises.

Chico Garcia au Club Balattou

Né au Mexique, Chico Garcia est tombé dans la musique depuis sa naissance. Il a pris sa première guitare à l’âge de onze ans et ça a été un coup de foudre instantané. C’est à l’âge de 15 ans qu’il commence à se faire une place dans la scène musicale de sa ville natale au Mexique. Il a joué avec plusieurs groupes très différents, ce qui lui permettait d’expérimenter des rythmes allant du métal au reggae, sans oublier le côté folklorique latino. Chico a aussi passé quelques années en Angleterre et en Nouvelle Zélande. Les traces de ce parcours musical peuvent se remarquer dans sa musique aujourd’hui composée d’un mélange de rythmes très différents.

Rock, cumbia, reggae, latino, funk, progressive et d’autres styles, unis par une touche bien propre à Chico García, sont au menu.

Il est accompagné de cinq musiciens venant de cinq pays différents, ce qui donne un mélange étrangement intéressant. Ils nous ont préparé un spectacle rempli de couleurs et saveurs du monde, mais avec une touche épicée du sud, bien propre à Chico García.

Une fusion qui vous fera voyager dans le monde !

Born in Mexico, Chico Garcia has been into music since birth. It was love at first sight when he got his first guitar at the age of eleven.

It was at the age of 15 that he began to make a name for himself in the music scene of his hometown in Mexico. He played with many different bands, which allowed him to experiment with rhythms ranging from metal to reggae, not to mention the Latin folkloric side.

Chico also spent a few years in England and New Zealand. The traces of this musical journey can be seen in his music today, which is a mixture of very different rhythms.

Rock, cumbia, reggae, latino, funk, progressive and other styles, united by Chico García’s own touch, are on the menu.

He is accompanied by five musicians from five different countries, which makes for a strangely interesting mix. They have prepared a show full of colors and flavors of the world, but with a spicy touch of the south, very specific to Chico García.

A fusion that will make you travel the world!

She is a maker of songs and a teller of stories, wielding her instruments like a craftsperson would their tools.
