Nuits d’Afrique : Romain Malagnoux au Club Balattou

Sun 16 Jul 2023 • 08:30 pm Blues
Club Balattou - Montréal 15$
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Romain Malagnoux’s music brings us a hint of desert blues. The singer-songwriter-composer’s passion for West-African rhythms led him to Mali, where he spent four years. There, he met djeli n’goni player, Moustafa Kouyaté, son of Bassekou, and balafon master, Kélétigui Diabaté, with whom he recorded the magnificent album, Nos frontières imaginaires, from which a track was included on the 2021 Putumayo World Café compilation. At times tender or melancholic, other times festive, Romain Malagnoux’s melodies open onto a world of possibilities.
