Bells Larsen (20h)

On Blurring Time, Bells Larsen transforms time into a series of patient, ceremonial acts. Reflecting their gender transition, the album is a bold exploration of identity in flux. Larsen intentionally recorded their higher, pre-testosterone voice and instrumentation in 2022, then waited for their voice to deepen before enlisting longtime collaborator Georgia Harmer to arrange harmonies with their present, lower voice—creating a poignant and intentional duet with the self. Produced by Graham Ereaux, the album blends ’90s indie lo-fi with emotionally rich folk ballads. Unlike previous work where Larsen’s voice remained subdued, Blurring Time brings both past and present voices to the forefront. The result is an emotionally resonant, sonically layered album drawing comparisons to Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, and Adrienne Lenker. Themes include sibling relationships, queer world-building, and quiet revelations, wrapped in lush, intimate soundscapes. Rejecting the binary of “before and after,” Larsen embraces the connective thread of “and.” In their words, “I wanted to reach out to older versions of myself and carry them with me as I grow.” Blurring Time is a radical act of self-compassion—a musically rich and politically tender portrait of transition, memory, and becoming.

It is with a light heart and more confidence in her own abilities than ever that Stéphanie Boulay, “the blonde half” of the duo Les sœurs Boulay, returns to the stage — solo, yes, but surrounded by her cherished friends (Charles Blondeau, Camille Gélinas, and Alexandre Martel) — to perform her second solo album, Est-ce que quelqu’un me voit? Skilled at creating moments each night that have never existed before and will never exist again in the same way, at making people laugh, and at opening up with both self-deprecation and bold honesty, Stéphanie will present her brand-new songs, which she spent two years drawing out of herself, with the help of producer Alexandre Martel (Anatole, Hubert Lenoir, Thierry Larose, Lou-Adriane Cassidy).
