What happens when the body contorts to seize every square centimeter of space? For Toronto-based industrial performance group Slash Need, they’ve become the conduit for a provocative form of collective liberation. Led by Dusty Lee, with additional production by Alex Low, the duo create songs that weave, satirize and scream. Sonically aligned with artists like Boy Harsher, Ministry, and Skinny Puppy, their distinct style of darkwave-infused industrial noise directs their rage at systems of power. Served raw and capable of inciting an erratic dancefloor, Slash Need’s propulsive techno and metallic drum patterns have an urgency familiar to anyone who’s ever felt combustible in the face of rigid parameters.
