Formé par les jumeaux Mark and J. Scott Grundy avec Cher Hann aux claviers, ce groupe indie pop basé à Toronto, mais qui a pris naissance à Halifax, apparaît comme un antidote parfait pour tous ceux et celles ayant connue une journée de chnoute! Allumant la scène avec des échanges de guitares nerveux, des voix hop! la vie et des mélodies qu’on veut croquer jusqu’à la dernière bouchée, Heaven For Real ne manque pas de souffle créatif. Après une flopée de singles et de EP, la troupe propose en 2022 l’album Energy Bar. Et ça tombe plutôt bien parce qu’ils en ont en masse à revendre, de l’énergie!

Lighting up the stage with nervous guitar interchanges, hop! la vie vocals and melodies you’ll want to crunch down to the last bite, Heaven For Real has no shortage of creative breath. After a flurry of singles and EPs, the band’s 2022 album, Energy Bar, was released. And that’s just as well, because they’ve got plenty of energy to spare!
Après avoir écumé la scène DIY montréalaise avec son trio post-punk et abrasif DISHPIT, Nora Kelly opère un petit changement de paradigme. S’exprimant maintenant dans un registre country champ gauche, son projet réconfortant s’échafaude sur des guitares twang sursautantes, des lignes de basses aussi smooth qu’une tonne de meringue et une batterie toute en finesse. Sa voix, qui passe du plus doux au plus dans-ta-face lorsque l’émotion le commande, rappelle une Eleni Mandell. En résumé final : les amateurs de groupes comme The Sadies ne voudront pas manquer cela!
After scouring the Montreal DIY scene with her abrasive post-punk trio DISHPIT, Nora Kelly makes a paradigm shift. Now expressing herself in a left-field country register, her heartwarming project is built on twangy guitars, bass lines as smooth as a ton of meringue and finely honed drums. Her voice, which shifts from the softest to the most in-your-face when emotion demands it, is reminiscent of an Eleni Mandell. Bottom line: fans of bands like The Sadies won’t want to miss this!
