Festival FLUX : Lori Goldston, Stefan Christoff, Christelle Saint-Julien et Elissa Kayal

Joignez-vous à nous pour un concert présenté par Arts in the Margins avec le soutien de Small Scale Music, Academics for Palestine à l’Université Concordia, le Centre de justice sociale de l’Université Concordia, CJLO et CKUT.
Ce concert sera le lancement d’une compilation au profit du projet de radio palestinien Radio alHara basé en Palestine occupée à Bethléem. Christelle et Stefan apparaissent tou.te.s deux sur la compilation qui sera publiée en collaboration avec Small Scale Music. Il y aura également une vente d’art imprimé lors de cet événement qui permettra de récolter des fonds supplémentaires pour la station de radio palestinienne.
Ce concert est coprésenté et soutenu par Academics for Palestine à l’Université Concordia.
Ce concert sera également le lancement à Montréal de l’album de duos 2024 A Radical Horizon, avec Lori Goldston au violoncelle et Stefan Christoff au piano, sorti chez Beacon Sound à Portland.
La soirée comprendra une performance solo de Lori Goldston, une performance solo de Christelle Saint-Julien, une lecture de la poétesse Elissa Kayal et un duo de Lori Goldston et Stefan Christoff.

Join us for a concert presented by Arts in the Margins with support from Small Scale Music, Academics for Palestine at Concordia University, the Social Justice Centre at Concordia University, CJLO and CKUT.
This concert will mark the launch of a benefit compilation in support of the Palestinian radio project Radio alHara based in occupied Palestine in Bethlehem. Both Christelle and Stefan appear on the compilation that will be released in collaboration with Small Scale Music. Art prints will be available for purchase to raise additional funds for the Palestinian radio station.
This concert is co-presented and supported by Academics for Palestine at Concordia University.
This concert will also be the Montréal launch for the 2024 duet album A Radical Horizon, with Lori Goldston on cello and Stefan Christoff on piano, released by Beacon Sound in Portland.
The evening will feature a solo performance by Lori Goldston, a solo performance by Christelle Saint-Julien, a reading by poet Elissa Kayal and a duet by Lori Goldston and Stefan Christoff.

Lori Goldston

Formée à la méthode classique et ayant déconstruit cet héritage avec rigueur, dotée d’un esprit curieux et partiellement sauvage, Lori Goldston est une violoncelliste, compositrice, improvisatrice, productrice, écrivaine et enseignante originaire de Seattle. La voix de son violoncelle, qu’elle soit amplifiée ou acoustique, est pleine, texturée, engagée et originale. Chercheuse infatigable, son travail franchit librement les frontières qui séparent les genres, les disciplines, le temps et la géographie. Classically trained and rigorously de-trained, possessor of a restless, semi-feral spirit, Lori Goldston is a cellist, composer, improvisor, producer, writer and teacher from Seattle. Her voice as a cellist, amplified or acoustic, is full, textured, committed and original. A relentless inquirer, her work drifts freely across borders that separate genre, discipline, time and geography. Stefan Christoff

Stefan Spirodon Christoff est un créateur de médias, un activiste communautaire et un artiste vivant à Montréal. Stefan anime l’émission Free City Radio, diffusée chaque semaine sur sept stations de radio communautaires au Canada et partagée mondialement en podcast (Spotify + Apple Podcasts). Stefan réalise de la musique avec de nombreuses personnes à travers le monde, notamment Rêves sonores, Sam Shalabi, Lori Goldston, Adriana Camancho et Anarchist Mountains. Stefan est membre du conseil d’administration du Centre des travailleurs immigrants de Côte-Des-Neiges et organise des événements avec le réseau Cinema Politica. Stefan travaille avec le Centre de justice sociale et est également étudiant à la maîtrise en histoire à l’Université Concordia.

Stefan Spirodon Christoff is a media maker, community activist and artist living in Montréal. Stefan hosts the program Free City Radio, broadcasting weekly on seven community radio stations in Canada and shared globally as a podcast (Spotify + Apple Podcasts). Stefan makes music with many people globally, including Rêves sonores, Sam Shalabi, Lori Goldston, Adriana Camancho and Anarchist Mountains. Stefan is on the board of the Immigrant Workers Centre in Côte-Des-Neiges and organises with Cinema Politica Network. Stefan works with the Social Justice Centre and is also a graduate student in history at Concordia University.

Christelle Saint-Julien

Christelle Saint-Julien est une journaliste, écrivaine, traductrice et musicienne basée à Montréal. Elle travaille dans les domaines des médias, des communications, des arts et de la culture, et s’intéresse aux gens et à leurs histoires, à la fois intangibles et perceptibles.

Christelle Saint-Julien is a journalist, writer, translator, and musician based in Montreal. She works in media, communications, arts and culture, and is interested in people and their stories, both intangible and perceptible.

Elissa Kayal

Elissa Kayal est une poète et critique littéraire, d’origine libano-palestinienne. Ses textes de poésie et de prose sont publiés dans plusieurs revues dont Mœbius, Estuaire, Zinc et Lieu commun.

Elissa Kayal is a Lebanese-Palestinian poet and literary critic. Her poetry and prose have appeared in several magazines, including Mœbius, Estuaire, Zinc and Lieu commun.
