Le NEM jouera Secret Theater dont il a fait la création montréalaise en 1994. Également au programme, Las Meninas (extrait) de John Rea, œuvre pour piano dans une orchestration pour le NEM par François Vallières, ainsi que les créations Contingency Icons de Samuel Andreyev et La persistance, l’éphémère de Tomás Diaz Villegas, compositeur en résidence au NEM.
This first anniversary concert features works by three composers of different generations, as well as a tribute to the late English composer Harrison Birtwistle. This first anniversary concert pays tribute to one of the great composers of our time, Harrison Birtwistle, who passed away last spring. The NEM will perform Secret Theater, which it premiered in Montreal in 1994. Also on the program, John Rea’s Las Meninas (excerpt), a piano work orchestrated for the NEM by François Vallières, as well as Samuel Andreyev’s Contingency Icons and La persistance, l’éphémère by Tomás Diaz Villegas, composer in residence at the NEM.
