Former member of the post-rock group Tarentel, Jefre-Cantu Ledesma has been performing solo for more than 10 years, churning out releases and collaborations. His album Songs of Forgiveness, originally released on cassette in 2014 and later re-released in 2016, is reminiscent of the atmospheric sounds of English shoegaze groups like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine, in a more lo-fi and minimalist version, affording the listener a certain sense of intimacy and proximity. Through repetition and manipulation on magnetic tape, Ledesma sculpts a hypnotic and captivating auditory fresco.
