M pour Montréal : Hawa B & Afrotronix au Belmont

HAWA B est une auteure-compositrice-interprète qui échappe aux étiquettes. Sa musique est un espace libre invitant à la réflexion : certains l’entendront rock, d’autres R’n’B, jazz ou électro…un mélange audacieux, exécuté avec soin, qui mène à une proposition unique et percutante. Elle crée un espace où l’on peut twerker en pleine session de head bang, rire et pleurer dans un même souffle. Son art cherche à redéfinir l’idée de perfection en célébrant les différences, en revendiquant les failles, sans honte ni filtre. HAWA B façonne un univers où la diversité devient une source de richesse et d’apprentissage. C’est un appel à l’authenticité et à la croissance personnelle. Après avoir partagé la scène en tant que choriste avec des artistes tels qu’Hubert Lenoir, Charlotte Cardin, Clay and Friends, et Dominique Fils-Aimé, HAWA B est aujourd’hui lauréate d’un prix GAMIQ pour son EP “sadder but better”. Son premier album solo, “better sad than sorry” est sorti en novembre 2024 via Duprince et est en nomination au GAMIQ pour l’album Soul R’N’B de l’année. En 2025, HAWA B a sorti trois singles: “Je danse dans ma tête” (reprise de Céline Dion), “Je veux rester” (feat. Greg Beaudin) et “oui non I know”.

HAWA B is a singer-songwriter who defies conventions. Her music creates a free space that invites new perspectives : some will hear rock, others R’n’B, jazz or electro…a bold mix, meticulously executed, leading to a unique and striking proposition. She sets an energy that inspires twerking while head-banging, laughing and crying, all in the same breath. Her art seeks to redefine the idea of perfection by celebrating differences and reclaiming flaws, without shame or filter. HAWA B crafts a universe where diversity becomes a valuable resource for learning and creating. It’s a call to authenticity and personal growth. Having shared the stage as a backing singer with artists such as Hubert Lenoir, Charlotte Cardin, Clay and Friends, and Dominique Fils-Aimé, HAWA B is now the winner of a GAMIQ award for her EP “sadder but better”. Her first solo album, “better sad than sorry”, was released in November 2024 on Duprince Records and is nominated for a GAMIQ award for Soul R&B Album of the Year. In 2025, HAWA B released three singles: “Je danse dans ma tête” (a cover of Céline Dion), “Je veux rester” (featuring Greg Beaudin), and “oui non I know ».

Afrotonix – 20h

Élevé par des griots et formé par les machines, Afrotronix transforme l’héritage musical tchadien en une expérience électronique résolument futuriste. Basé à Montréal, le projet du guitariste et producteur Caleb Rimtobaye fusionne chants d’initiation, Afro Tech, amapiano et afro house dans son « Saharan Electro ». Première exportation électronique du Tchad, Afrotronix incarne un afrofuturisme où mémoire, guérison et innovation se rencontrent sur le dancefloor.

Raised by griots and shaped by machines, Afrotronix transforms Chad’s musical heritage into a boldly futuristic electronic experience. Based in Montreal, guitarist and producer Caleb Rimtobaye blends initiation chants with Afro Tech, amapiano, and afro house to create his signature « Saharan Electro » sound. As Chad’s first electronic music export, Afrotronix embodies an Afrofuturist vision where memory, healing, and innovation converge on the dancefloor.

Mundial Montréal : Nadine Altounji au Centre Sanaaq

Montréalaise d’origine syrienne, Nadine Altounji est une auteure-compositrice-interprète dont la musique puise dans des influences arabes, latines, afro et francophones. Chantant en français, en anglais, en arabe et en espagnol, elle s’accompagne à l’oud électrique et à la guitare. Portées par des rythmes riches et un parcours musical façonné par diverses cultures, ses chansons explorent les thèmes de l’identité, du mouvement et des liens humains dans une approche résolument contemporaine.

A Montrealer of Syrian origin, Nadine Altounji is a singer-songwriter whose music draws on Arab, Latin, Afro, and Francophone influences. Singing in French, English, Arabic, and Spanish, she accompanies herself on the electric oud and guitar. Driven by rich rhythms and a musical journey shaped by diverse cultures, her songs explore themes of identity, movement, and human connections through a decidedly contemporary lens.

POP Montréal 2026 : Charlotte Cornfield, Heaven 4 Real et Pony Girl à La Sotterenea

Charlotte Cornfield

Hurts Like Hell, le premier album de Charlotte Cornfield chez Merge Records paru le 27 mars 2026, est l’album le plus ouvert et affirmé de sa carrière, ainsi que le premier qu’elle enregistre depuis la naissance de sa fille en 2023. Installée au studio Sugar Mountain de Philip Weinrobe à Brooklyn en janvier 2025, Cornfield est accompagnée de El Kempner de Palehound, Bridget Kearney de Lake Street Drive, Adam Brisbin et Sean Mullins. Elle et Weinrobe invitent ensuite Feist, Buck Meek, Christian Lee Hutson et Maia Friedman à participer aux voix. Ces dix chansons réaffirment la place de Cornfield parmi les grandes autrices-compositrices de sa génération tout en ouvrant une nouvelle étape de sa vie artistique.

Hurts Like Hell, Toronto songwriter Charlotte Cornfield’s March 27, 2026 Merge Records debut, is the most open-hearted, full-voiced album of her career and the first she’s recorded since the birth of her daughter in 2023. Decamping to Philip Weinrobe’s Sugar Mountain studio in Brooklyn, New York in January 2025, Cornfield was joined by Palehound’s El Kempner (guitar/vocals), Lake Street Drive’s Bridget Kearney (bass/vocals), Adam Brisbin (guitar/pedal steel), and Sean Mullins (drums). She and Weinrobe then recruited Feist, Buck Meek, Christian Lee Hutson and Maia Friedman to sing on the album. “Every musician involved was a dream collaborator,” Cornfield says. These ten songs are at once a reaffirmation of Cornfield standing among the great singer-songwriters of her generation and the first articulation of her future, whatever uncertainty and love it may bring.

Heaven 4 Real

Le projet Heaven For Real, basé entre Montréal et Toronto (orignée Halifax), existe depuis longtemps sous différentes formes, en tordant le pop rock pour le transformer en quelque trucs de nouveau, un peu déroutant et vraiment poétique. Mené par les jumeaux iconoclastes Mark Grundy et J. Scott Grundy, leur album 2025 Who Died & Made You The Dream? (Mint Records) a été décrit comme étant « rempli à craquer de mélodies accrocheuses et hyper travaillées qui restent dans la tête », avec « une approche surréaliste du indie rock » et « joyeusement étrange ».

This Montreal/Toronto (by way of Halifax) project has taken on many shapes over the last decade, twisting pop rock structures into new and perplexingly poetic configurations. Helmed by iconoclastic songwriter twins Mark & J. Scott Grundy, their 2025 LP “Who Died & Made You The Dream?” (Mint Records) is described as « filled to the brim with infectiously intricate earworm melodies », a “surrealist approach to indie rock » and « gleefully strange ».

Pony Girl

Pony Girl est un groupe d’art rock à géométrie variable : « pure magic to see live » (Ottawa Showbox) et « astonishing to experience in person » (Exclaim!). Leurs concerts sont imprévisibles et immersifs, alliant une virtuosité musicale à une dimension conceptuelle toujours surprenante. Le groupe est récipiendaire du Prix du Festival d’Été de Québec. Pony Girl a bénéficié d’une diffusion soutenue sur ICI Musique (L’Effet Pogonat), CBC Music (Q, Drive, Afterdark, no. 1 sur CBC Radio 3), ainsi que sur KEXP, KCRW, et de nombreuses radios universitaires et communautaires à travers l’Amérique du Nord (atteignant la 4e position du !earshot National Top 50). En 2026–2027, le groupe se concentre sur la réinvention : tester de nouvelles compositions en concert, affiner une direction artistique renouvelée, et créer des liens avec des diffuseurs et d’autres artistes — en particulier au Québec et à l’international — en vue de la sortie d’un nouvel album prévue pour 2027.

Pony Girl is a shape-shifting art rock band described as “pure magic to see live” (Ottawa Showbox) and “astonishing to experience in person” (Exclaim!). They are recipients of Le Prix du Festival d’Été du Québec. Their live shows feel unpredictable, combining next-level musicianship with conceptual flair. Blending artful pop, rock guitar, jazz drumming and electronic textures, Pony Girl crafts an immersive sound that transforms the familiar into something surreal. After self-releasing two albums, the band signed with Paper Bag Records (Austra, Stars, Broken Social Scene) to unveil two more acclaimed records. Their music has charted across North America (#1 on CBC Radio 3) with features on KEXP, KCRW, CBC Radio Q, and more. Pony Girl made its international debut at SXSW in 2024; and UK debut at FOCUS Wales in 2026. The Canadian band is preparing to release its fifth studio album, « FIRE! », produced by longtime collaborator Austin Tufts (BRAIDS).

Siibii est un·e artiste cri·e originaire de Mistissini, au Québec, nommé·e aux prix JUNO, dont l’univers musical mêle pop, folk et narration. En tant qu’artiste bispirituel·le, trans et non binaire, son travail explore les thèmes de l’identité, de la résilience et du chez-soi, à travers des chansons profondément personnelles qui résonnent auprès de différentes cultures et générations. Siibii a récemment lancé son premier EP chez Ishkode Records / Universal Music Canada et continue de développer un public fidèle grâce à des textes authentiques, des performances chargées d’émotion et un engagement fort en faveur d’une meilleure visibilité des artistes autochtones dans le milieu des arts.

Siibii is a JUNO-nominated Cree artist from Mistissini, Quebec, whose musical style blends pop, folk, and storytelling. As a Two-Spirit, trans, and non-binary artist, their work explores themes of identity, resilience, and home through deeply personal songs that resonate across cultures and generations. Siibii recently released their debut EP on Ishkode Records / Universal Music Canada and continues to build a loyal following through authentic lyrics, emotionally charged performances, and a strong commitment to increasing the visibility of Indigenous artists in the arts community.

DYSTOH est un duo formé par Ray Tabana et Phil Motion, basé entre Ottawa et Paris, et composé de deux membres fondateurs du Souljazz Orchestra. Mundial Montréal : Ana & Eric à la Maison des arts participatifs

Ana & Eric are a Brazilian duo based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, who blend Brazilian bossa nova with North American indie-folk. Their music is characterized by warm harmonies, poetic lyrics, and rich acoustic textures, drawing on Brazilian rhythms and folk traditions while exploring themes such as home, migration, love, and a sense of belonging.
