L’Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal (ONJ) est très heureux d’accueillir à nouveau le compositeur, saxophoniste, chanteur et chef d’orchestre de jazz norvégien Bendik Hofseth. Ce concert en collaboration avec le OFF Festival de jazz sera l’occasion de lancer un album de ses œuvres vocales et instrumentales, arrangées pour l’ONJ par Jean-Nicolas Trottier et captées sur le vif au Studio TD en 2018. Pour cette occasion exceptionnelle, l’ONJ sera composé de 26 musiciens dont 8 vents, 13 cordes et une section rythmique.
Lorsque Bendik Hofseth s’est rendu à New York en 1987, et a remplacé l’immense saxophoniste Michael Brecker au sein du groupe Steps Ahead, cela en a surpris plusieurs. Un jeune de Lørenskog en Norvège, arrivant dans la capitale du jazz qu’est New York et se joignant à l’un des groupes de jazz les plus renommés des États-Unis!

The Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal (ONJ) is delighted to welcome back Norwegian composer, saxophonist, singer and jazz bandleader Bendik Hofseth. This concert in collaboration with the OFF Jazz Festival will be the occasion to launch an album of his vocal and instrumental works, arranged for the ONJ by Jean-Nicolas Trottier and captured live at Studio TD in 2018. For this exceptional occasion, the ONJ will be made up of 26 musicians, including 8 winds, 13 strings and a rhythm section.
When Bendik Hofseth came to New York in 1987, replacing the great saxophonist Michael Brecker in the Steps Ahead group, it came as a surprise to many. A young man from Lørenskog, Norway, arriving in the jazz capital of New York and joining one of America’s most renowned jazz bands!
