Saluons comme il se doit la venue au Festival de l’Orchestre Métropolitain après trois ans d’absence, sous la baguette de son illustrissime chef, Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Le maestro, récemment récompensé d’un prix Grammy, poursuit sa fabuleuse carrière comme directeur musical du Metropolitan Opera à New York et de l’Orchestre de Philadelphie, sans délaisser pour autant son cher orchestre montréalais auprès duquel il s’est engagé pour la vie. Au programme, la Symphonie No 5 de Beethoven, qui figure parmi les œuvres les plus célèbres du monde, reconnaissable dès ses premières mesures, précédée de l’ouverture de Ville cosmopolite d’Airat Ichimouratov, des 3e et 4e mouvements de la Symphonie No 3 de Louise Farrenc et d’Eko-Bmijwang de Barbara Assiginaak. Un rendez-vous à ne pas manquer!
We’re poised to give a fitting welcome to the Orchestre Métropolitain, returning after a three-year absence, under the baton of illustrious conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The Grammy Award-winning maestro continues his fabulous career as music director of the Met in New York and the Philadelphia Orchestra, without abandoning his beloved Montreal orchestra, to which he has made a lifelong commitment. The program for this night includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, one of the world’s most famous works, instantly recognizable from its opening bars, preceded by Airat Ichimouratov’s Cosmopolitan City Overture, the third and fourth movements of Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3, and Eko-Bmijwang by Barbara Assiginaak.
