Steeple

Steeple est un groupe de rock alternatif/indie basé à Montréal, formé en 2023. Nous nous inspirons de groupes comme Boa, Floral et Radiohead, en utilisant des voix émotionnelles, des lignes de guitares mathématiques et des signatures temporelles intrigantes. Nous venons de sortir notre premier EP « Fishbowl Heaven » en janvier.

Steeple is a four-piece alternative/indie rock band based in Montreal, formed in 2023. We draw inspiration from bands like Boa, Floral, and Radiohead, using emotional vocals, math-like guitar lines, and intriguing time signatures. We just released our first EP “Fishbowl Heaven” in January.

Mellonella

Mellonella est un groupe de rock progressif de Montréal formé en 2024. Notre musique est fortement inspirée par les grands du rock progressif britannique des années 70 comme King Crimson, ELP, Genesis et Yes, ainsi que par des groupes expérimentaux modernes comme Black Midi et Geordie Greep. Notre musique comporte de nombreuses signatures temporelles impaires, des chansons aux structures compliquées et des compositions de longue durée. Le groupe est composé d’un bassiste/chanteur, d’un guitariste et d’un batteur, avec l’intention de créer un mur de son énergique, avec une instrumentation minimale. Notre premier album sera bientôt enregistré et sortira au cours de l’hiver.

Mellonella is a progressive rock band from Montreal formed in 2024. Our music is heavily inspired by the 70s British prog rock greats like King Crimson, ELP, Genesis, and Yes. as well as modern experimental acts like Black Midi and Geordie Greep. Our music features lots of odd-time signatures, songs with complicated structures, and pieces of extended length. The band is a three piece, consisiting only of a Bassist/Vocalist, Guitarist, and Drummer, with the intentional of creating an energetic, in your face, wall of sound with minimal instrumentation. Our first album is soon to be recorded and released sometime during the winter.

NIIVI

Je suis un artiste Inuk bi-spirituel du Nunavik, je fais de la musique folk punk en mélangeant les traditions musicales de ma culture, le chant de gorge et parfois la langue Inuktitut, avec des sons plus lourds.

Im a 2-spirited Inuk artist from Nunavik, i make folk punk music blending my cultures musical traditions of throat singing and sometimes Inuktitut language with heavier sounds.

BEAM SPLITTER est un duo de voix amplifiée, trombone et électronique analogique composé de l’artiste vocale Audrey Chen et le tromboniste Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø. BEAM SPLITTER développe un langage personnel et viscéral qui repousse les limites corporelles de leurs instruments, utilisant l’électronique analogique pour contrebalancer leur jeu physique hyper étendu. Partageant un sens commun de la pulsation et une conception innée de la manière dont ils affrontent et abandonnent chaque instant consécutif, ils parviennent à un équilibre entre la fragilité, l’intimité, l’extatique et le contrôle mesuré. BEAM SPLITTER tourne à travers le monde entier depuis 2015, donnant plus de deux cents concerts sur cinq continents, apportant leur style unique de dialogue hautement amplifié, aussi intime que brut et entièrement exposé.

Making their Canadian debut, BEAM SPLITTER is a duo for amplified voice, trombone, and analog electronics formed by vocalist Audrey Chen and trombonist Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø. BEAM SPLITTER’s ecstatic personal language combines highly-amplified and extended vocal and instrumental techniques with analog electronics, crafting raw and visceral physical play that stretches the corporeal limits of the voice and trombone. Sharing a common sense of pulse and an innate understanding of how they confront and abandon each consecutive moment, the duo strikes a captivating balance between fragility, intimacy, ecstasy and measured control. BEAM SPLITTER have been touring globally since 2015, playing over two hundred concerts in a wide variety of spaces and contexts on five continents, bringing their own brand of highly amplified dialog, which is as intimate as it is equal amounts raw and entirely exposed.

Anne-F Jacques & Ryoko Akama

Une performance de deux artistes sonores imaginatives. Anne-F Jacques est une artiste basée à Montréal, s’intéressant à l’amplification, aux interactions obliques entre matériaux et à la construction de divers systèmes idiosyncratiques. Ryoko Akama est une artiste japonaise-coréenne travaillant l’installation, la performance et la composition, résidant à Huddersfield (Royaume-Uni). Anne-F et Ryoko travaillent ensemble depuis 2016, une collaboration basée sur l’échange d’idées absurdes, d’expérimentations ratées ou dangereuses, et d’occasionnelles performances et publications sonores communes.

A performance by two imaginative sound artists. Anne-F Jacques is an artist based in Montreal, interested in amplification, erratic devices and trivial objects. Ryoko Akama is a Japanese-Korean artist working with installation, performance and composition, residing in Huddersfield (UK). Anne-F and Ryoko have been working together since 2016, an ongoing collaboration that involves sharing ridiculous ideas, failed or dangerous experiments, and occasional performances and releases.

MODEM

Modem est un duo de synth pop basé à Helsinki, formé par Tytti Roto et Ville Valavuo en 2020. Après avoir fait leurs armes dans l’underground punk et indie finlandais (dans des groupes tels que Tamara Luonto, Plastic Tones, Kissa, Foreseen et Kohti Tuhoa), le duo s’est lancé dans la création de musique pop électronique et a canalisé son amour pour les sons synthétiques des années 1980.

Modem is a Helsinki-based synth pop duo formed by Tytti Roto and Ville Valavuo in 2020. Having paid their dues in the Finnish punk and indie underground (in bands such as Tamara Luonto, Plastic Tones, Kissa, Foreseen and Kohti Tuhoa), the duo set out to create electronic pop music and channel their love for the synthetic sounds of the 1980s.

POP Montréal : Myriam Gendron + Cédric Dind-Lavoie au Théâtre Outremont

Myriam Gendron

Mayday est le troisième LP de l’artiste montréalaise Myriam Gendron. Il fait suite à ses albums précédents, acclamés par la critique, Not So Deep As A Well (2014) et Ma délire – Chansons d’amour, perdues et trouvées (2021). Avant son premier album, la principale activité musicale de Myriam était de jouer dans la rue dans les stations du métro parisien, interprétant les chansons de Leonard Cohen et d’autres, en s’accompagnant à la guitare. Grâce à son travail quotidien, dans une librairie de Montréal, Myriam a découvert les poèmes de l’écrivaine américaine Dorothy Parker, mieux connue pour son esprit tranchant que pour ses vers. Inspirée par les paroles de Parker, Myriam a écrit de la musique pour accompagner une suite d’entre elles, puis a enregistré le résultat dans sa chambre. Ces enregistrements constituent son premier LP et continuent de ravir les auditeurs qui les découvrent, par leur fraîcheur, leur clarté et leur humour. Après une brève pause, Myriam a commencé à explorer les traditions folkloriques complexes du Québec (et d’ailleurs) en enregistrant le 2LP, Ma délire, qui combine des chansons traditionnelles et originales (en grande partie en français) avec des arrangements qui laissent place à des intermèdes musicaux avant-gardistes de tels artistes. des gens comme le guitariste Bill Nace (Body/Head) et le célèbre percussionniste de jazz Chris Corsano. Mayday est une fusion encore plus syncrétique de ces éléments. La plupart des chansons sont originales, en anglais et en français, et mélangent avec abandon des éléments traditionnels et avant-gardistes. Les autres musiciens incluent cette fois le batteur Jim White (Dirty Three), la guitariste Marisa Anderson, le bassiste montréalais Cédric Dind-Lavoie (un autre fan du dynamisme trad/avant), Bill Nace et le saxophoniste Zoh Amba (dont le cor a en fait le « dernier mot »). ). Mayday is the third LP by Montreal-based artist, Myriam Gendron. It follows her earlier, critically acclaimed albums, Not So Deep As A Well (2014) and Ma délire – Songs of love, lost & found (2021). Prior to her debut album, Myriam’s primary musical focus was busking in Paris Metro stations, performing the songs of Leonard Cohen and others, accompanying herself on guitar. Through her day job, working at a Montreal bookstore, Myriam discovered the poems of American writer, Dorothy Parker, who was better known for her cutting wit than her verse. Inspired by Parker’s words, Myriam wrote music to accompany a suite of them, then recorded the results in her bedroom. These recordings were issued as her debut LP, and continue to delight listeners who discover them, with their freshness, clarity and humor. After a brief hiatus, Myriam began exploring the complex folk traditions of Quebec (and beyond), recording the 2LP, Ma délire, which combines traditional and original songs (largely in French) with arrangements that make space for avant-garde musical interludes by such folks as guitarist Bill Nace (Body/Head) and renowned jazz percussionist Chris Corsano. Mayday is an even more syncretic fusion of these elements. Most of the songs are original, in both English and French, and blend traditional and avant elements with abandon. Additional players this time include drummer Jim White (Dirty Three), guitarist Marisa Anderson, Montreal bassist Cédric Dind-Lavoie (a fellow fan of trad/avant dynamism), Bill Nace and saxophonist Zoh Amba (whose horn actually gets the final “word”). Mayday is a thoroughly thrilling effort that manages to create new vistas of sound while maintaining a feel that is both intimate and familiar. Beautiful work.

Cédric Dind-Lavoie

Archives est le dernier projet du multi-instrumentiste et compositeur Cédric Dind-Lavoie, un spectacle qui marie les archives de folklore aux musiques ambiantes et introspectives.
Le musicien se réapproprie pour l’occasion de vieux trésors retrouvés au fil de recherches passionnées, une sélection de chansons et d’airs instrumentaux des années 40 et 50 tirés notamment des collections des folkloristes Simonne Voyer, Roger Matton et Luc Lacourcière. Il les accompagne ensuite, principalement au piano, les enrichissant d’un habillage musical moderne et intimiste.
Il est aussi appuyé sur scène par le violoneux et multi-instrumentiste Dâvi Simard qui, tout en étant ouvertement tourné vers l’exploration sonore en tout genre, amène un ancrage fort dans les codes traditionnels.
À deux, ils forment finalement un trio avec la station d’archives qui joue en temps réel ces reliques du passé, celles-ci étant parfois actionnées directement sur bobine ou sur vinyle, faisant ainsi écho aux méthodes d’enregistrement originales.
En résulte un spectacle hautement poétique qui, plutôt que de tomber dans un simple exercice nostalgique, permet de révéler sous un nouveau jour ces archives, comme si les deux musiciens avaient pu se glisser entre les mailles du temps pour aller à la rencontre de ces voix et de leurs histoires pour les accompagner.

Archives is the last project of multi-instrumentalist and composer Cédric Dind-Lavoie, a show that blends old folklore recordings with ambient and introspective music.
For the occasion, the musician reappropriates old treasures found through passionate research, a selection of songs and instrumental tunes from the 40’s and 50’s drawn from the collections of folklorists Simonne Voyer, Roger Matton and Luc Lacourcière. He then accompanies them, mainly on the piano, enriching them with a modern and intimate musical setting.
He is also supported on stage by the fiddler and multi-instrumentalist Dâvi Simard who, while openly turned towards sound exploration of all kinds, brings a strong anchoring in the traditional codes. The two of them finally form a trio with the archive station that plays these relics of the past in real time, sometimes directly on reel-to-reel or vinyl, thus echoing the original recording methods.
The result is a highly poetic show that, rather than falling into a simple nostalgic exercise, reveals these archives in a new light, as if the two musicians had been able to slip through the cracks of time to meet these voices and their stories to accompany them.

Shelby Trapid

Shelby Trapid crée un art rock introspectif pour le temps turbulent. Méditant sur les thèmes du deuil, de l’acceptation de soi et de la connexion humaine, ses chansons se déploient à travers des environnements sonores éclectiques. D’une voix à la fois chaleureuse et déterminée, Shelby interprète des paroles percutantes avec une sincérité compatissante.

Shelby Trapid is a Montreal singer-songwriter creating impassioned art rock for turbulent times. Examining themes of connection, grief, and self-acceptance, their emotionally resonant songs unfold across eclectic sonic landscapes. Shelby’s distinct voice balances warmth and resolve, delivering gut-punch lyrics with disarming sincerity. They’ve released two albums: Everything I could not fix I broke into smaller pieces (2022) and No Ambition, Only Desire (2024). Their third full-length release is forthcoming.

Sunwell

Fort. Une erreur ou deux ici et là. Sunwell met en valeur les notions de base d’un band de garage, tout en livrant des tounes attachantes et mémorables. Leur deuxième EP intitulé “sunshine, etc.” sort le 4 mars 2025 et porte 5 chansons distinct, allant de l’énergie punk de “why should i?” et “read my mind” jusqu’aux textures mélodiques de “sunshine”. Avec les talents professionnels en audio de Carly et Ben, le band a toujours été produit lui-même. Débutant de rien, le groupe se lance sur scène régulièrement et est en pleine croissance à Montréal et ailleurs.

Rough around the edges, loud, a mistake or two scattered about. Sunwell embraces the basics of a garage band, yet delivers catchy, memorable songs. Their second release titled “sunshine, etc.” releases March 4th 2025 and features 5 distinct tracks ranging from the gritty punk energy of tracks “why should i?” and “read my mind” to the mellow warmth of “sunshine”. Starting from grassroots, the band is actively playing live and growing steadily in Montreal and beyond.

Thomas Thomas

Le groupe indie de Calgary Thomas Thomas est le résultat de la collision créative entre l’auteur-compositeur-interprète sincère Shannon Thomas et l’indie-rockeur curieux Thomas Englund (Beta Boys). Le groupe s’est produit avec Japanese Breakfast, Shannon & The Clams et Vundabar. Bye Parula est ce genre de trio qui semble avoir jailli d’un vieux magnétoscope, quelque part entre une bobine poussiéreuse de cinéma 70’s et un rêve pop indé d’aujourd’hui. Formé à Montréal en 2020, le groupe réunit trois personnalités bien distinctes mais liées par une même vision : Sergio d’Isanto (baterie, chant), Sebastán Riquelme (guitare, chant) et Loïc Calatayud (chant, basse) se croisent pour fusionner leurs infuences en un équilibre aussi fragile que fascinant. Avec une oreille tournée vers les bandes-son d’une époque révolue et l’autre plongée dans les efluves de la pop contemporaine, Bye Parula compose un répertoire où les arrangements ciselés s’enroulent autour d’une poésie épurée. Leur premier album, sort en 2022, fait parler l’élégance en toute discréton. Réalisé par l’alchimiste Robbie Kuster (Patrick Watson, Flore Laurentenne) et magnifé par le mix de Warren C. Bye Parula is the kind of trio that seems to have emerged from an old VCR, somewhere between a dusty reel of 70s cinema and today’s indie pop dream. Dilettante

Dilettante est la multi-instrumentiste Francesca Pidgeon, une artiste art-pop. Vivant dans le nord de l’Angleterre, elle a joué au Royaume-Uni et à l’international. Dilettante a ouvert des spectacles pour des artistes comme Caribou, Self Esteem et Philip Selway (Radiohead) et s’est produite dans des festivals comme The Great Escape, SXSW (Austin, Texas), NXNE (Toronto, Canada), Kendal Calling, Song Swap (Nantes, France), Focus Wales et Live at Leeds.

The Narcotix

L’ensemble art-folk ouest-africain The Narcotix, basé à Brooklyn, est né de l’imagination d’Esther Quansah et de Becky Foinchas, amies d’enfance et compositrices expérimentales. Leur travail est à la fois spirituel et rebelle, invitant le public à une expérience d’un autre monde, aussi familière qu’un hymne et aussi libre qu’un rêve.

Brooklyn-based, West African art-folk ensemble The Narcotix is the brainchild of childhood friends and experimental composers Esther Quansah and Becky Foinchas. Natural Sympathies fait de l’art pop fantastique qui explore la vie intérieure à travers une combinaison alchimique de paroles poétiques, d’écriture inventive et d’harmonies vocales luxuriantes dans un paysage sonore chargé de synthétiseurs. Natural Sympathies travaille par cycles d’albums conceptuels qui s’étendent souvent à l’art de la performance et à d’autres médiums en fonction de chaque projet, impliquant souvent d’autres artistes et le grand public dans les magouilles. Ayant débuté en 2016 en tant que projet solo d’Amber Goodwyn, musicienne basée à Treaty 4/Regina, en Saskatchewan, Natural Sympathies se produit maintenant en tant que groupe de quatre musiciens, accompagné occasionnellement (pour des occasions très spéciales) d’une troupe de danseurs de soutien appelée The Mutual Affection.

Natural Sympathies makes fantastical art pop that explores inner life through an alchemical combination of poetic lyrics, inventive songwriting, and lush vocal harmonies within a synth-laden soundscape. Natural Sympathies works in concept album cycles that often expand into performance art and other mediums as each project dictates, often involving other artists and the general public in shenaniganry. Having started in 2016 as the solo project of Treaty 4/Regina, Saskatchewan-based musician Amber Goodwyn, Natural Sympathies now performs as a four-piece band, occasionally accompanied by (for very special occasions) a coven of back-up dancers called The Mutual Affection.

Damso débarque à Montréal pour une session d’enregistrement unique

Ce samedi 27 septembre, le rappeur belge Damso offrira au public montréalais une expérience musicale hors du commun. De 14h à 18h, l’artiste prendra part à une session d’enregistrement live en présence de fans, un concept déjà présenté à Paris et qui avait fait sensation.

Le principe est simple, mais audacieux : des beatmakers et producteurs – dont les noms seront dévoilés la veille de l’événement – composent un morceau sous les yeux du public, pendant que Damso écrit puis enregistre ses paroles, en direct. Une immersion totale dans le processus créatif, rare pour un artiste de cette envergure.

Pour Montréal, Damso sera accompagné de Blynk, invité spécial de la session. Cette rencontre promet des moments uniques, entre improvisation, spontanéité et magie créative.

Avec des albums comme Ipséité (2017), Lithopédion (2018) et tout récemment BĒYĀH (2025), Damso est aujourd’hui l’une des figures les plus influentes du rap francophone. Ses textes intenses, mêlant introspection, provocation et poésie brute, lui ont permis de rassembler un public fidèle et passionné, bien au-delà des frontières de la Belgique.

Cette performance montréalaise s’annonce comme un événement incontournable pour les amateurs de rap.

Truth Club

Le Truth Club de Raleigh a immédiatement fait sensation lors de la sortie de son premier album Not An Exit en 2019. Billianne a captivé Internet en 2021 lorsque son adaptation de « The Best » de Tina Turner est devenue virale sur TikTok, atteignant plus de 2 millions de vues et suscitant une vague de viralité qui a redéfini sa vie. Son premier EP, The Things We Talk About (2023), reflétait ses goûts et révélait ses idées, lui valant rapidement le titre de « prochaine grande voix de la musique » décerné par le Toronto Star. Soltera

Soltera, le projet de musique de danse expérimentale de Los Angeles, est la création de l’artiste américano-colombienne Tania Ordoñez. S’inspirant de la vallée de San Fernando, où les concerts dans les arrière-cours sont devenus la toile de son évolution artistique, Tania Ordoñez crée ingénieusement sa tapisserie sonore à l’aide de synthétiseurs et de boîtes à rythmes qu’elle emprunte. Elle mélange harmonieusement des éléments de techno et de house avec une éthique punk. Soltera s’est récemment transformé en un duo puissant avec l’artiste Pacoima Techno à la production et au chant. Décrites comme une expérience théâtrale et chaotique, les performances de Soltera transcendent le conventionnel, offrant au public un voyage sonore immersif qui repousse les limites.

Soltera, the experimental dance music project hailing from Los Angeles, is the creation of Colombian American artist Tania Ordoñez. Drawing inspiration from the San Fernando Valley where backyard shows became the canvas for her artistic evolution, Ingeniously crafting her sonic tapestry using borrowed synthesizers and drum machines, Ordoñez seamlessly blends elements of techno and house with a punk ethos. Soltera has recently expanded into a powerhouse duo featuring artist Pacoima Techno on production/ vocals. Described as a theatrical and chaotic experience, Soltera’s performances transcend the conventional, offering audiences an immersive sonic journey that pushes boundaries.

Nectar Palace

Nectar Palace, alias créatif de Shaun Pouliot, dévoile son univers sonore aux Francouvertes 2024. Influencé par ses multiples collaborations avec Super Plage, Félix Dyotte, Le Couleur, Radiant Baby, Ormiston, Meggie Lennon et Jordann, l’artiste fusionne des influences électro et du punk-disco tranchant, saturé de textures percutantes et de rythmes accrocheurs.

Nectar Palace, Shaun Pouliot’s creative alias, makes his first appearance at the 2024 Francouvertes. Influenced by his many collaborations (Super Plage, Félix Dyotte, Le Couleur, Radiant Baby, Ormiston, Meggie Lennon, Jordann), the artist fuses electro and punk-disco influences into a sharp sound universe uniquely his own, saturated with percussive textures and catchy rhythms.
