Spilled Milk, Vol. 1 (the first of a series of EPs) arrived in 2019, the same year he earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance for his contribution to the song « Down Bad » featuring J. Toronto-based pop singer Rêve first made a run at the Canadian charts in late 2021 with the Banx & Ranx-produced “CTRL + ALT + DEL,” an infectious futuristic single that helped set the table for further releases like 2022’s « Tongue » and « Whitney. » She won a Juno Award in 2023 for her breakout single.

En février et mars 2024, les frères Damian « Jr Gong » Marley et Stephen « Ragga » Marley, lauréats d’un Grammy Award, lanceront leur tournée exclusive Traffic Jam Tour à travers l’Amérique du Nord. C’est la première fois dans l’histoire que les deux frères présentent ensemble une tournée, offrant ainsi une vitrine unique à leurs fans. La tournée de 18 dates commence le 16 février et comprend 15 dates produites par Live Nation, avec des arrêts à Las Vegas (NV), Seattle (WA), Vancouver (BC), Boston (MA), Brooklyn (NY), Toronto (ON) et d’autres avant de se terminer au Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom à Chicago (IL), le 30 mars. En outre, trois dates de festival complètent la tournée : CaliVibes Fest, Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival et Reggae Rise Up Florida.

Le concert, qui se déroulera sans interruption, comprendra une liste de morceaux choisis dans le catalogue des deux frères et un pot-pourri des classiques de leur père Bob Marley. Damian et Stephen Marley ont écrit et interprété ensemble une multitude de singles au cours des deux dernières décennies – y compris la collaboration la plus récente, « Cast The First Stone », tirée du nouvel album de Stephen Marley, Old Soul. The brothers wrote/produced/performed on the anthemic Grammy-winning reggae classic “Welcome To Jamrock,” in addition to timeless compositions like “Medication,” “Grown & Sexy,” “All Night,” “It Was Written,” and, of course, “Traffic Jam.”

Jesse Mac Cormack commence enfin à saisir le sens réel de sa musique. Son deuxième album studio est aussi perçant qu’un regard, aussi tendre qu’un au revoir. C’est une collection de chansons électroniques qui se gonflent et se cassent comme les vagues sur une rive. L’enregistrement a été tour à tour enrichissant, paisible, solitaire, anxiogène. Le temps, la distance et une thérapie ont permis à l’auteur-compositeur montréalais de finalement comprendre tout ce qu’il souhaitait exprimer.

« Peu importe ce que tu vis, tu seras toujours seul avec ce que tu vis », confie Mac Cormack. Cette leçon a été difficile à assimiler. Au plus fort de la pandémie, alors qu’une relation se terminait, Mac Cormack se souvient avoir finalement pris une décision : aller de l’avant, changer, se voir pour qui il est réellement. SOLO capture le son de cette transformation, enregistré au fil d’un an et demi, une période marquée par des épreuves, mais aussi par le soulagement.

Comme sur Now, le premier album de Mac Cormack qui a été encensé par la critique en 2019, il joue de pratiquement chaque instrument lui-même. À travers 10 pièces, l’auteur-compositeur-interprète crée un univers sonore à la fois percutant et intimiste, influencé par les textures électroniques de James Blake, Little Dragon, Caribou et SUUNS. Les boîtes à rythmes sont entourées d’envolées de synthés; les mauvais sorts tourbillonnent auprès d’airs amoureux.

Jesse Mac Cormack is finally beginning to grasp the true meaning of his music. His second studio album is as piercing as a glance, as tender as a goodbye. It’s a collection of electronic songs that swell and break like waves on a shore. The recording process was by turns enriching, peaceful, solitary and anxiety-provoking. Time, distance and therapy enabled the Montreal songwriter to finally understand everything he wanted to express.

« No matter what you’re going through, you’ll always be alone with what you’re going through, » confides Mac Cormack. It was a difficult lesson to assimilate. At the height of the pandemic, as one relationship was ending, Mac Cormack remembers finally making a decision: to move on, to change, to see himself for who he really is. SOLO captures the sound of this transformation, recorded over the course of a year and a half, a period marked by hardship, but also by relief.

As on Now, Mac Cormack’s critically acclaimed 2019 debut album, he plays virtually every instrument himself. Across 10 tracks, the singer-songwriter creates a percussive yet intimate sonic universe, influenced by the electronic textures of James Blake, Little Dragon, Caribou and SUUNS. Drum machines are surrounded by soaring synths; curses swirl alongside amorous tunes.

Semaine du Neuf: Ghostland

Immersive et envoûtante, cette création de Pierre Jodlowski nous plonge dans un espace aux frontières indéfinies.

Ce projet repose sur le concept de fantôme. Il est conçu pour quatre percussionnistes qui concentrent leur jeu sur quatre batteries et des instruments virtuels, une marionnettiste avec un dispositif interactif de lumières, sons et vidéos.

Le fantôme est envisagé dans ses multiples dimensions symboliques. La scène n’est plus seulement un espace de représentation mais elle devient un lieu ambigu et un espace infini, essentiellement destiné à voir éclore une sorte de rituel sonore et visuel devenant lui-même un objet à percevoir.

La partition très élaborée met en valeur les qualités qui font la notoriété des Percussions de Strasbourg. Les différentes parties de Ghostland se structurent dans une dramaturgie allant de l’ombre à la lumière.

Immersive and spellbinding, this creation by Pierre Jodlowski plunges us into a space with undefined boundaries.

The project is based on the concept of the ghost. It is conceived for four percussionists, who concentrate their playing on four drums and virtual instruments, and a puppeteer with an interactive light, sound and video device.

The ghost is considered in its multiple symbolic dimensions. The stage is no longer simply a performance space, but becomes an ambiguous and infinite space, essentially destined to witness the emergence of a kind of sonic and visual ritual that itself becomes an object to be perceived.

The elaborate score highlights the qualities for which the Percussions de Strasbourg are renowned. The various parts of Ghostland are structured in a dramaturgy that moves from shadow to light.

Alors que nombre de ses contemporains hispanophones ont entrepris, à un moment ou à un autre de leur carrière, des campagnes de passage à l’anglais, Juanes, auteur-compositeur-interprète, guitariste et écrivain colombien, a acquis une renommée mondiale exclusivement dans sa langue maternelle et est peut-être devenu le plus grand et le plus important artiste de musique latine populaire du début du XXIe siècle. Après son premier album, Fíjate Bien (2000), qui lui a valu le Latin Grammy du meilleur nouvel artiste (le premier d’une série de plus de deux douzaines, dont plus de 20 Latin Grammy Awards et quatre Grammy), Juanes a connu un succès mondial avec son deuxième album, Un Día Normal (2002). Rien qu’aux États-Unis, l’album s’est hissé au sommet du Billboard Latin pendant deux années consécutives, restant dans le Top 10 pendant un nombre record de 92 semaines ; il a également enregistré six singles et six Latin Grammy Awards. Lauréats du Maple Blues Award et demi-finalistes de l’International Blues Challenge, ils ont lancé cinq albums, joué dans les principaux festivals de folk, de jazz et de blues à travers le pays et ont enregistré ou joué avec des légendes telles que The Mavis Staples Band, Canned Heat, Bettye LaVette, Billy Boy Arnold, Curtis Salgado, Junior Watson, Mark Hummel et bien d’autres.

Raoul and The Big Time have been performing their particular brand of “Toronto/Chicago/Hollywood” Blues for over 25 years and return to Montreal for their first show since a headlining spot at the Jazz Festival in 2011! Maple Blues Award winners and International Blues Challenge semi finalists they have released five albums, played at major folk, jazz and blues festivals across the country and have recorded or performed with legends such as The Mavis Staples Band, Canned Heat, Bettye LaVette, Billy Boy Arnold, Curtis Salgado, Junior Watson, Mark Hummel and many more.
