Dans le cadre unique du magnifique théâtre Plaza, Il Teatro Rosso est un tout nouveau projet éclaté développé par NO HAY BANDA, en collaboration avec le compositeur Steven Takasugi et le réalisateur Huei Lin pour la partie cinématographique. Le concert intègre du «lip-synching» stratégique, de la fausse spatialisation et un égarement perceptif délibéré.
L’œuvre est programmatique, représentative, narrative, provocante, conflictuelle, humoristique, puis plus du tout humoristique, le tout pour accueillir un message social et politique en phase avec notre culture technologique contemporaine et l’humanité à une époque de consommation de masse, de crise et de transition.

In the unique setting of the magnificent Théâtre Plaza, Il Teatro Rosso is a brand new project developed by NO HAY BANDA, in collaboration with composer Steven Takasugi and director Huei Lin (cinematography). The concert incorporates strategic lip-synching, false spatialization and deliberate perceptual misdirection. The aim is creating a ‘house of mirrors,’ where live and recorded, real and virtual, truth and falsity merge, and where, in much the same way, the performer becomes the observer and the audience the observed.
The work is programmatic, representational, narrative, provocative, confrontational, humorous and then not humorous at all, conveying a social and political message in tune with our contemporary technological culture and humanity, in an age of mass consumption, crisis and transition.

Pénétrez dans un univers insaisissable avec la grande première de Mystery of clock! Cet étourdissant projet interdisciplinaire de la percussionniste Aiyun Huang et du violoniste Mark Fewer se tiendra dans le cadre unique du Théâtre Plaza.
Ce projet, en gestation depuis quelques années, fusionne théâtre, danse et musique dans une dramaturgie saisissante où les frontières entre la réalité et la fantaisie s’effacent. Mystery of Clock nous invite à explorer la notion du temps qui passe en nous offrant une performance multimédia de haute intensité combinant l’éclairage, le geste, l’audiovisuel, la mise en scène, le texte, le violon et la percussion. Les musiciens, explorant la création sous toutes ses formes, nous emportent ainsi dans les méandres de la création totale.

Enter an elusive universe with the grand premiere of Mystery of clock! A dizzying interdisciplinary project by percussionist Aiyun Huang and violinist Mark Fewer that will take place in the unique setting of the Théâtre Plaza.
Several years in the making, this project fuses theatre, dance and music in a gripping dramaturgy that obscures the boundaries between reality and fantasy. Une soirée envoûtante de musiques cumbia et de vallenato, deux genres musicaux emblématiques de la Colombie, qui réunira en plateau double l’explosif quintette montréalais, Less Toches, et le légendaire Beto Jamaica Rey Vallenato, le Roi du Vallenato de Colombie.

Less Toches ! Ce quintette montréalais, issu de diverses origines colombienne, mexicaine et argentine, crée une fusion musicale explosive, provoquant un big-bang de cumbia à la fois inattendu, rafraîchissant et enivrant. À chaque spectacle, ils redécouvrent la magie profonde de leur enfance, nous offrant une sensation paradisiaque dans une dimension parallèle de l’esprit paysan et riverain de la cumbia colombiana et la música de acordeón. Pura parranda sabanera.

Suivra directement de la Colombie, Beto Jamaica Rey Vallenato. Alberto « Beto » Jamaica est l’un des principaux ambassadeurs de vallenato, l’une des musiques traditionnelles les plus populaires dans son pays. Sa musique est un mélange vibrant de cumbia, de paseo et de porro, le tout enveloppé dans son style unique de vallenato, porté par trois instruments qui constituent le cœur d’un ensemble vallenato traditionnel : l’accordéon, instrument emblématique du vallenato, la guacharaca et la caja vallenata. Restant fidèle à ses origines, le Roi du Vallenato ajoute une touche de modernité en y intégrant une basse électrique, des congas et des timbales, offrant une sonorité actualisée de cette musique traditionnelle de la côte caribéenne.

This Montreal quintet, stemming from diverse Colombian, Mexican, and Argentine origins, creates an explosive musical fusion, inducing an unexpected, refreshing, and intoxicating cumbia big bang. With every performance, they rediscover the profound magic of their childhood, offering us a paradisiacal sensation in a parallel dimension of the rural and riverside spirit of « cumbia colombiana » and « música de acordeón ». « Pura parranda sabanera. »

Directly following from Colombia, we’ll have Beto Jamaica Rey Vallenato. Alberto « Beto » Jamaica is one of the foremost ambassadors of vallenato, one of the most popular folk music genres in his country. His music is a vibrant blend of cumbia, paseo, and porro, all wrapped in his unique vallenato style, driven by three instruments that form the core of a traditional vallenato ensemble: the accordion, the iconic instrument of vallenato, the guacharaca, and the caja vallenata. Remaining true to his roots, he adds a touch of modernity by incorporating electric bass, congas, and timbales, thus offering a contemporary interpretation of this traditional music.

Formé de 17 choristes sous la direction musicale de Vincent Morel, l’Ensemble vocal jazz Bémol 9 propose depuis 1984 une approche musicale unique. Le groupe réussit en effet le tour de force d’adapter des pièces composées ou arrangées pour big band. Puisant dans le vaste répertoire de ces grands ensembles, Bémol 9 s’est forgé une identité vocale marquée par la variété des styles qu’il interprète.

Formed by 17 choristers under the musical direction of Vincent Morel, the Ensemble vocal jazz Bémol 9 has been offering a unique musical approach since 1984. The group has achieved the feat of adapting pieces composed or arranged for big band. Drawing on the vast repertoire of these large ensembles, Bémol 9 has forged a vocal identity marked by the variety of styles it performs.

Lydia Képinski sillonne les routes du Québec dans une camionnette de location noire en compagnie de son équipe. Leur mission : faire se matérialiser DEPUIS et quelques succès de PREMIER JUIN dans un mélange de joie, de peine, de nostalgie et de dancefloor.Nous sommes en 2024, après cent spectacles au Québec et en Europe, le temps est venu pour Lydia de retourner en studio afin de recommencer un nouveau cycle de création.

Le 7 mars prochain, venez faire vos adieux à DEPUIS en même temps qu’elle lors de cette ultime soirée festive au Théâtre Plaza à Montréal.

Lydia Képinski and her team travel the roads of Quebec in a black rental van. It’s the year 2024, and after 100 shows in Quebec and Europe, the time has come for Lydia to return to the studio to begin a new creative cycle.

Neschastny Sluchai au Théâtre Plaza

Pour la première fois au Canada, Art Buzz Productions présente Neschastny Sluchai. Groupe de rock russe formé par Valdis Pelsh et Alexey Kortnev en 1983, alors que les deux hommes étaient étudiants à l’Université d’État de Moscou. Le leader du groupe, Alexei Kortnev, a souvent cité comme influences majeures des groupes tels que Queen, King Crimson et Genesis. Les paroles du groupe sont à la fois grotesques et sentimentales, tandis que leur musique présente des structures compliquées et des tournures mélodiques enracinées dans le rock progressif des années 70.

First time in Canada, Art Buzz Productions present Neschastny Sluchai. The Russian rock band that was formed by Valdis Pelsh and Alexey Kortnev in 1983, while both men were students at Moscow State University. The band leader, Alexei Kortnev, has repeatedly cited as major influences such bands as Queen, King Crimson, and Genesis. The band’s lyrics are at the same time grotesque and sentimental, while their music features complicated structures and melodic turns rooted in the prog rock of the ’70s.

Les artistes voyageurs Francois R. Cambuzat et Gianna Greco ont ramené de cette aventure une multitude d’images avec lesquelles ils engagent un dialogue effréné dans un ciné-concert saisissant. Le cœur de cette culture, retranscrit à l’aide d’ordinateurs et d’instruments électriques, est conjugué à une fureur rock électro pour donner naissance à une musique néo-chamanique ébouriffante!

Deep in the Taklamakan desert, in the Karakoram mountains on the edge of Pakistan’s borders, Uighur musicians, shamans and bards engage in musical rites of elevation, contemplation and trance.

Traveling artists Francois R. Cambuzat and Gianna Greco have brought back from this adventure a multitude of images with which they engage in a frantic dialogue in a gripping cine-concert. The heart of this culture, retranscribed using computers and electric instruments, is combined with electro-rock fury to give birth to a breathtaking neo-shamanic music!

More than just a ciné-concert, Ifriqiyya Electrique is a veritable ritual of possession that comes to life before your very eyes. Artists Francois R. For years, they have mingled with this community in Tunisia’s Djerid desert, recording, filming and composing in the company of these healing musicians, guardians of mysterious portals between worlds. Six musiciens sur scène avec invités spéciaux suivi d’une soirée dansante jusqu’aux petites heures du matin avec DJ Set après le show. Pura Candela!

Caractérisé pour être une proposition fraîche, organique et éclectique, « Vengo de Frente Vol I & II » est une œuvre discographique construite à partir d’éléments Afro-Latins, Pop-Rock, Afro-Beat et Dance Hall.

Une production qui se distingue par sa cohésion et sa maturité ainsi que par son format et sa structure musicale. MATEO apporte un son authentique, assumé et accessible. Avec un premier lancement de 5 titres en 2020 (Vengo De Frente Vol I), l’œuvre a marqué une tendance dans la scène locale canadienne en obtenant la reconnaissance de « Révélation Radio Canada 2020- 2021 » dans la catégorie Musique du monde, matériel qui, bien qu’étant entièrement en espagnol, a réussi à captiver et à traverser les frontières en positionnant MATEO comme une figure de la « scène latine New Vibe ».

Six nouvelles chansons ont été ajoutées à ce premier opus pour avoir un album complet de 11 morceaux ainsi que pour donner une touche finale à la direction sonore du projet.

Il est à noter qu’en plus de la voix particulière de MATEO, le travail avec les musiciens qui composent le projet a eu une grande influence sur son identité puisque la richesse et le contexte multiculturel canadien ont permis l’inclusion du jamaïcain Dan Fyah Beats sur la batterie, le cubain Hanser Santos Gómez aux percussions, le guitariste péruvien / canadien Tito Sono et le bassiste colombien Diego Cruz Lora. Un mélange d’ingrédients qui, sous la production de Leon Yehoudah Perez (Azul Rojo Music), a réussi à intégrer les éléments nécessaires pour donner la touche finale aux compositions de MATEO.
