Le trio de rock expérimental Yoo Doo Right (Montréal, CA) marie notes de guitare mélodiques et bruyantes, trames de synthétiseurs trafiqués, lignes de basse étoffées et déchaînements percussifs calculés, créant un puissant mur de son. Dans son approche expérimentale, le groupe réunit habilement des éléments du shoegaze, du post-rock et du psychédélisme, et érige un son qui s’apparente à celui d’un « accident de la route au ralenti ».
Experimental rock trio Yoo Doo Right (Montreal, CA) combines melodic and noisy guitar notes, doctored synthesizer patterns, fleshed-out bass lines and calculated percussive outbursts to create a powerful wall of sound. In their experimental approach, the band skillfully combines elements of shoegaze, post-rock, and psychedelia, and builds a sound that is akin to a « slow-motion traffic accident.

Sous une musique folk/rock ouvertement inspirée des Beatles ou de Fred Fortin, on y raconte des amitiés, des rencontres, des déceptions amoureuses, des moments d’angoisse, de béatitude et de levé de soleil. Madame Autruche vous invite à cet événement unique qui réunira pour une fois seulement une quanzaine de musiciens pour jouer dans son entièreté ce nouvel album. Suite à la sortie des deux volumes d’« Échos d’une vie distante », Luis Clavis a bâti un spectacle unique pour cette résidence de 3 soirs au Ministère. Accompagné de plusieurs musiciens sur scène, il proposera une soirée très intime qui se transformera doucement en un événement plus festif de minute en minute. La musique sera façonnée par une formation unique réunissant chanteurs et instrumentistes exceptionnels rassemblés uniquement pour cet événement. La mise en scène du spectacle est signée par Brigitte Poupart.
Following the release of the two volumes of « Echoes of a Distant Life », Luis Clavis has built a unique show for this 3-night residency at the Ministry. Accompanied by several musicians on stage, he will propose a very intimate evening that will slowly transform into a more festive event by the minute. The music will be shaped by a unique ensemble of singers and exceptional instrumentalists gathered only for this event. The show is directed by Brigitte Poupart.

On décrit Gab Paquet de multiples façons – « perfection faite homme » n’est qu’un exemple parmi tant d’autres – mais ce qu’il faut savoir, c’est que cet être de démesure sensuelle et d’exaltation spirituelle est avant tout un héraut envoûtant augmenté d’un don divin pour la musique, et que c’est dans la chanson française de variété qu’il trouve un véhicule pour ses messages essentiels – un sulfureux kitsch qui n’a rien d’un plaisir coupable. Ce qu’on doit aussi savoir, c’est que ces susmentionnés codes esthétiques et sonores qu’il emploie sont d’avenants leurres pour attirer le public dans l’aspect dédié de sa démarche artistique : ses pièces offrent magnanimement plusieurs niveaux de compréhension, et chacun.e y trouve son compte – un rire, une réflexion, une étude approfondie, une illumination – dans une communion extatique. On lui doit déjà Sélection continentale (2013), Casio, pad et moustaches (2015) et Santa Barbara (2016 – qui lui a très notamment permis d’assurer la première partie de Michel Louvain au Festival d’Été de Québec l’année suivante), et on est sur le bord de lui en devoir tellement plus avec La Force d’Éros : premier volet d’un diptyque érotico-ésotérique, sur lequel il s’enduit d’influences 90s (entre autres : pop de boy bands, ballade québ, trance et nu-metal) pour aborder le thème de la sacralisation des rapports sexuels en s’appuyant sur le débat entre l’Éros céleste et l’Éros vulgaire du Banquet de Platon – pour finalement conclure que c’est l’amour qui va sauver le monde.
Gab Paquet has been described in many ways – « perfection made man » is just one example – but what one must know is that this being of sensual excess and spiritual exaltation is first and foremost a bewitching herald with a divine gift for music, and that it is in the French variety song that he finds a vehicle for his essential messages – a sultry kitsch that is not a guilty pleasure. What one should also know is that these aforementioned aesthetic and sonic codes he employs are apt lures to draw the audience into the dedicated aspect of his artistic process: his pieces magnanimously offer several levels of understanding, and everyone finds something to enjoy – a laugh, a reflection, a deep study, an enlightenment – in an ecstatic communion. We already owe him Sélection continentale (2013), Casio, pad et moustaches (2015) and Santa Barbara (2016 – which allowed him to open for Michel Louvain at the Festival d’Été de Québec the following year), and we are on the verge of owing him so much more with La Force d’Éros : the first part of an erotico-esoteric diptych, on which he smears 90s influences (among others: boy band pop, queb ballad, trance and nu-metal) to tackle the theme of the sacralization of sexual relations by relying on the debate between the celestial Eros and the vulgar Eros of Plato’s Banquet – to finally conclude that it’s love that will save the world.
