L’expérience Nils Wanderer : Orchestre symphonique de Québec à la salle Raoul-Jobin

Depuis les compositeurs romantiques jusqu’aux musiciens actuels, la musique baroque demeure une source d’inspiration intarissable. Avec la complicité du contreténor allemand Nils Wanderer, Clemens Schuldt a conçu un programme aussi inattendu qu’inspirant. Au-delà du thème irrésistible de son premier mouvement, la quatrième et dernière symphonie de Brahms synthétise tout l’héritage musical du compositeur. Son finale est une passacaille qui s’inspire d’un thème emprunté à Bach, le « père des musiciens », dont une élégiaque Sinfonia ouvre le concert. Les pièces instrumentales de Gabrieli, Rameau et de Vaughan Williams — qui revisite l’air Greensleeves cher aux périodes de la Renaissance et baroque —, dialoguent avec les plus belles arias de Purcell et de Handel, sublimées par le timbre rare et suave de Nils Wanderer. Aheym de Bryce Dessner, guitariste du groupe The National, rend hommage, dans une écriture minimaliste décoiffante, aux immigrants juifs dont descend le musicien. La partition donne une résonance particulière à la chanson Hallelujah de Leonard Cohen. Enfin, le tube qu’Adèle a destiné au générique de Skyfall, le 23 e James Bond, retrace par ses paroles tout le parcours de ce concert hors-norme, mis en lumière par Nyco Desmeules.

From Romantic composers to today’s musicians, Baroque music remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration. In collaboration with German countertenor Nils Wanderer, Clemens Schuldt has crafted a program that is as unexpected as it is inspiring. Beyond the irresistible theme of its first movement, Brahms’s Fourth and final Symphony encapsulates the full breadth of the composer’s musical legacy. Its finale is a passacaglia inspired by a theme borrowed from Bach, the “father of musicians,” whose elegiac Sinfonia opens the concert. Instrumental works by Gabrieli, Rameau, and Vaughan Williams — who revisits the beloved air Greensleeves from the Renaissance and Baroque periods — enter into dialogue with some of the most beautiful arias by Purcell and Handel, elevated by the rare, velvety timbre of Nils Wanderer. Aheym by Bryce Dessner, guitarist of the band The National, pays tribute, through striking minimalist writing, to the Jewish immigrants from whom the musician descends. The score lends a particular resonance to Leonard Cohen’s song Hallelujah. Finally, the hit song written by Adele for the end credits of Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond film, retraces through its lyrics the entire journey of this extraordinary concert, brought to light by Nyco Desmeules.

La première partie du spectacle raconte l’histoire de Laura, une jeune danseuse cubaine émigrée en Espagne et rêvant de devenir danseuse de flamenco. Arrivée en terre gitane, elle rencontre un jeune danseur de flamenco qui tombe amoureux d’elle. Cette romance est interrompue par l’apparition d’un torero triomphant, admiré de tous. Passion et jalousie s’installent. Mais le destin est parfois fatal à l’amour. Un jour, dans l’arène, le torero succombe sous la charge du taureau. Laura doit surmonter ce chagrin, et sa soif de vivre la pousse à le surmonter par la danse. Cette histoire d’amour est racontée à travers diverses chorégraphies, chants et guitare flamenco. L’atmosphère de chaque scène rend hommage aux grands peintres espagnols : Picasso, Miró, Goya et Dalí. La deuxième partie du spectacle, vous mènera dans un voyage musical, de chant et de danse, dans le plus pur style des « tablaos flamenco » typiques d´Espagne. Chaque danseur donnera le meilleur de lui-même avec des chorégraphies individuelles éblouissantes qui enflammeront le public. Les danseurs Agustín Barajas, Gad de la Fuente et Laura García font partie de la nouvelle génération montante des danseurs du flamenco contemporains. Laura Garcia, danseuse, a participée dans divers événements nationaux et internationaux. Établie á Córdoba, Laura participe aux évènements et festivals flamenco. Dernièrement, elle a monté avec succès les œuvres Sireré et Cruzando Mares; fait une tournée en Chine et participe au Festival Fusion Granada 2031. Agustín Barajas, danseur. Il a fait de nombreuses tournées internationales : Europe, Asie et aux États-Unis. Il a dansé avec le Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, avec les stars Eva Yerbabuena, Mariquilla, Rafael Amargo et du chanteur Miguel Poveda. Gad de la Fuente, danseur. Il a étudié le ballet, la danse contemporaine et le flamenco. Il se produit régulièrement dans les tablaos les plus importants de Madrid, tels que Casa Patas, Las Tablas, Centro Cultural Flamenco de Madrid, Las Carboneras. Danseur étoile du spectacle Lorca es Flamenco. Ces magnifiques danseurs sont accompagnés par le son de la guitare flamenca, du chanteur et percussionnistes. The first part of the performance tells the story of Laura, a young Cuban dancer who emigrates to Spain, dreaming of becoming a flamenco dancer. Upon arriving in Gypsy lands, she meets a young flamenco dancer who falls in love with her. This romance is interrupted by the appearance of a triumphant torero, admired by all. Passion and jealousy take hold, but destiny is sometimes fatal to love. One day, in the arena, the torero succumbs to the charge of the bull. Laura must overcome her grief, and her thirst for life drives her to rise above it through dance. This love story is told through a series of choreographies, songs, and flamenco guitar pieces. The atmosphere of each scene pays tribute to the great Spanish painters: Picasso, Miró, Goya, and Dalí. The second part of the show takes you on a musical journey of song and dance in the purest style of traditional Spanish flamenco tablaos. Each dancer gives their very best in dazzling solo choreographies that will set the audience ablaze. Dancers Agustín Barajas, Gad de la Fuente, and Laura García are part of the rising new generation of contemporary flamenco dancers. Laura García, dancer, has participated in numerous national and international events. Based in Córdoba, she regularly takes part in flamenco events and festivals. Since the release of his debut album in 1993, Thomas Fersen has established himself as an essential singer-songwriter, a poet of French chanson with a mischievous spirit. Nearly thirty years after Le bal des oiseaux, his seminal first album, Fersen returns with Le choix de la reine, an irresistible project that offers a fresh perspective on his repertoire. For this project, Fersen collaborated with the Trio SR9 and arranger Clément Ducol, Oscar-winning for the score of Emilia Perez. Un rendez-vous avec le sublime Dixit Dominus de Handel dont la virtuosité vocale et la puissance de l’expression musicale en font l’une des plus grandes réussites chorales du compositeur.
Le motet Jesu, meine Freude de Bach appartient lui aussi au plus beau répertoire sacré de toute l’époque baroque. En ouverture, un bref et très poignant motet du prédécesseur de Bach à l’église Saint-Thomas de Leipzig.

A meeting with the sublime Dixit Dominus by Handel, a work of remarkable vocal virtuosity and expressive power, making it one of the composer’s greatest choral masterpieces.
Bach’s motet Jesu, meine Freude also belongs to the finest sacred repertoire of the entire Baroque era. Opening the program is a brief yet deeply moving motet by Bach’s predecessor at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig.

L’une des pages les plus personnelles de Tchaïkovski donne son titre à ce concert qui promet un voyage dépaysant et sensible, aux trajectoires à la fois géographiques et à celles, plus intimes, de la mémoire et des impressions profondes. Le périple comprendra une escale proposée par la compositrice Barbara Assiginaak à l’intention de la flûtiste Ariane Brisson qui en assurera la création.

One of Tchaikovsky’s most personal works lends its name to this concert, promising a transporting and deeply felt journey that spans both geographical routes and more intimate paths of memory and profound impressions. Our voyage also includes a new piece by composer Barbara Assiginaak, written for flutist Ariane Brisson, who will be performing its premiere.

¡Cubanismo! vient partager ses rythmes chauds pour la toute première fois à Québec. Avec ses cuivres entraînants, ses brillantes harmonies et ses impressionnantes polyrythmies, la troupe du trompettiste Jesús Alemañy est reconnue comme l’une des meilleures de la musique cubaine, naviguant entre mambo, salsa, chachachá, danzon, bolero, rumba, son ou jazz latin avec le même bonheur. Jesús Alemañy qui, selon The Village Voice, a « la prestance d’un Miles Davis ainsi que la fluidité précise et funky de Fats Navarro », s’est d’abord fait connaître au sein du mythique groupe Sierra Maestra alors qu’il n’avait que 15 ans. Avec ¡Cubanismo!, il a signé sept albums et a tourné dans plus de 50 pays, s’arrêtant dans les festivals les plus prestigieux du monde.

¡Cubanismo! is bringing its fiery rhythms to Quebec City for the very first time. With its driving brass section, brilliant harmonies, and impressive polyrhythms, the ensemble led by trumpeter Jesús Alemañy is recognized as one of the finest groups in Cuban music, moving effortlessly between mambo, salsa, cha-cha-cha, danzón, bolero, rumba, son, and Latin jazz. Alemañy, who, according to The Village Voice, has “the presence of a Miles Davis and the precise, funky fluidity of Fats Navarro”, first made a name for himself with the legendary group Sierra Maestra at just 15 years old. With ¡Cubanismo!, he has released seven albums and toured more than 50 countries, appearing at many of the world’s most prestigious festivals.

Les Quatre Saisons : de Vivaldi à Dompierre à la salle Raoul-Jobin

Suite à son succès à Carnegie Hall en 2024, la violoniste Isabella d’Éloize Perron entame sa première tournée européenne, qui l’amènera à Paris, Bordeaux, Vienne, Prague, et Berlin. La flamboyante virtuose ne manquera pas d’impressionner lors d’une nouvelle série de concerts passionnants. Interprété par l’Orchestre FILMharmonique sous la direction de Francis Choinière, Les Quatre Saisons de Vivaldi sera porté par un souffle de jeunesse, alors que Les Quatre Saisons de Buenos Aires, signé Astor Piazzolla, nous plongera dans l’univers sensuel du tango argentin. Aussi en primeur pour cette tournée sera la première mondiale de Les Quatre Saisons du Québec du célèbre compositeur François Dompierre.
