À l’aise autant en studio que sur scène, ALIAS trace une franche ligne entre le produit fini du premier et celui animé de la seconde, là où les compositions vibrent dans des états nouveaux, davantage bruts. Emmanuel Alias (guitare, voix), Jean-Baptiste Beltra (clavier, guitare), Vincent Bénézet (basse) et Simon Bilodeau (batterie) propulsent un psych rock planant marqué de revers à travers des hauts et bas d’intensité, chinant les genres en évoquant les canons pour mieux explorer autour. Il se passe quelque chose de plus, simplement – via l’imprévu, l’improvisation, l’ambiance : une performance habitée, à chaque fois aguerrie et vierge.

At ease in the studio as much as on stage, ALIAS draws a clear line between the finished product of the former and the animated one of the latter, where the compositions vibrate in new, more raw states. Emmanuel Alias (guitar, vocals), Jean-Baptiste Beltra (keyboard, guitar), Vincent Bénézet (bass) and Simon Bilodeau (drums) propel a soaring psych-rock marked by reversals through ups and downs of intensity, chasing genres by evoking the canons to better explore around them. There’s something more going on, simply – via the unexpected, the improvisation, the atmosphere: a lived-in performance, each time seasoned and untouched.

Coup de coeur francophone : Munya & Rayannah au Ministère

MUNYA a commencé à jouer du piano classique à l’âge de 4 ans jusqu’à son adolescence où elle a commencé à se produire et à étudier l’opéra et les techniques vocales classiques. Elle a lentement affiné sa voix et appris à devenir une “Coloratura” et s’est qualifiée pour plusieurs concours, dont le “Concours de musique canadienne Canimex” à l’âge de 16 ans. Elle interrompt alors son étude de la musique classique et s’intéresse de près au jazz. Elle commence un programme à l’Université de Montréal où elle étudie le jazz et tombe amoureuse des œuvres de Bill Evans, John Coltrane et Nina Simone. Après son séjour à l’université, elle a commencé à collaborer et à faire des tournées en tant que claviériste et choriste avec d’autres artistes montréalais, notamment Alex Nevsky, Philemon Cimon, Ouri et Sterling Grove.

MUNYA began playing classical piano at the age of 4 until her teenage years where she began performing and studying opera and classical vocal techniques. She slowly honed her voice and learned to become a “Coloratura” and qualified for several competitions, including “Canimex Canadian music competition” at the age of 16. She then paused her study of classical music and took a deep interest in Jazz. She began a program at the University of Montreal where she studied Jazz and fell in love with the works of Bill Evans, John Coltrane and Nina Simone. After her University time she began collaborating and touring as a keyboardist and back up singer with other Montreal artists including Alex Nevsky, Philemon Cimon, Ouri, and Sterling Grove.

Ils sont connus tant pour leur ambition que pour leur travail avec des artistes tels que Hubert Lenoir, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Keith Kouna, Tire le Coyote, Ariane Roy, Gabrielle Shonk, Emilie Clepper et bien d’autres.

Ping pong go is a new instrumental project by pianist Vincent Gagnon and drummer P-E Beaudoin. Well known both for their ambition as well as their work with artists such as Hubert Lenoir, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Keith Kouna, Tire le Coyote, Ariane Roy, Gabrielle Shonk, Emilie Clepper and many more.

Coup de coeur francophone : Narcisse au Ministère

Narcisse s’est fait découvrir en grande partie lors de son passage aux Francouvertes 2020, d’où il s’est rendu en finale. Depuis, il a fait paraître les pièces Marjorie et Pénélope. L’artiste est maintenant de retour avec le morceau La fin n’arrive jamais. On y retrouve Narcisse qui y fait une « ode aux anciennes vies », comme indique le communiqué de presse. Plus précisément : « avec la répétition comme figure de style de prédilection pour mitrailler l’imaginaire d’affirmations puissantes, il s’exprime sur la multitude d’existences qui s’expérimentent et se succèdent au sein de notre traversée terrestre », peut-on y lire.

Narcisse was discovered in large part during his appearance at the Francouvertes 2020, where he made it to the finals. Since then, he has released the songs Marjorie and Pénélope. The artist is now back with the song La fin n’arrive jamais. We find Narcisse who makes an “ode to old lives”, as indicated in the press release. More precisely: “with the repetition as a figure of style of predilection to shoot the imagination of powerful statements, he expresses himself on the multitude of existences that are experienced and succeed each other in our earthly journey,” it says.

Coup de coeur francophone : Lonny & Sébastien Lacombe au Ministère

Musicienne chevronnée, Lonny se nourrit des guitares folk qu’on entend chez Gillian Welch ou Laura Marling. Elle a conçu un folk empathique mais intransigeant, d’une langue française entoilée de paysages normands ou québécois, et de métaphores de la prostration, du deuil, de la reconquête d’une féminité.

Sébastien Lacombe nous revient cette fois avec une version intimiste de son opus Le chemin des possibles.

Il propose un voyage au coeur de la vie humaine, en passant par ses combats et ses moments précieux. ses imprévus et ses points tournants.

A seasoned musician, Lonny draws on the folk guitars of Gillian Welch and Laura Marling. She has created an empathetic but uncompromising folk, with a French language covered with Normandy or Quebec landscapes, and metaphors of prostration, mourning, and the reclaiming of a femininity.

Sébastien Lacombe returns this time with an intimate version of his opus Le chemin des possibles.

He proposes a journey to the heart of human life, through its struggles and its precious moments, its unforeseen events and its turning points.

Coup de coeur francophone présente : Anachnid & La Bronze au Ministère

Gagnante du Félix de l’année 2021 pour Artiste autochtone de l’année, Anachnid est une artiste multidisciplinaire oji-cree basée à Montréal. Son animal spirituel, l’araignée, a huit pattes, et elle incarne autant de personnalités complexes sur scène et dans la vie : esprit venimeux, jeune femme amoureuse, grand-mère attentionnée… Sa musique est un style hybride et sensuel d’électro-pop, indie, avec une touche de grunge. Sur scène, elle livre une expérience immersive avec une force tranquille et nous communique sa sensibilité, en nous amenant dans son univers intimiste et symbolique.

Alliage contrasté, l’auteure-compositrice-interprète Nadia Essadiqi, alias La Bronze fait vibrer par son charisme magnétique et sa pop électro aux accents rock, qui évoque un hymne à l’amour et la liberté où planent douceur et fougue. Son timbre envoûtant dénude une poésie unique et poignante.

Winner of the 2021 Félix Award for Aboriginal Artist of the Year, Anachnid is an Oji-Cree multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Her spirit animal, the spider, has eight legs, and she embodies many complex personalities on stage and in life: venomous spirit, young woman in love, caring grandmother… Her music is a hybrid and sensual style of electro-pop, indie, with a touch of grunge. On stage, she delivers an immersive experience with a quiet strength and communicates her sensitivity, bringing us into her intimate and symbolic universe.

Contrasting alliances, the singer-songwriter Nadia Essadiqi, alias La Bronze, makes us vibrate with her magnetic charisma and her electro pop with rock accents, which evokes a hymn to love and freedom where sweetness and ardor hover. Her bewitching timbre reveals a unique and poignant poetry.

Lysandre Ménard est une autrice-compositrice-interprète québécoise qui a d’abord été connue au sein du groupe The Loodies. Elle détient une maîtrise en piano d’accompagnement de la Royal Academy of Music de Londres. Elle a reçu divers prix, en plus de jouer au prestigieux Carnegie Hall. Outre sa carrière musicale, Lysandre a joué le rôle-titre dans La passion d’Augustine de Léa Pool. Elle a lancé, en septembre 2020, son premier EP de musique pop : Maison-Dieu.

Lysandre Ménard is a singer-songwriter from Quebec who first became known as a member of The Loodies. She holds a master’s degree in piano accompaniment from the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has been awarded numerous prizes in the past and has performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. In addition to her musical career, Lysandre is a decorated actress for her role in Lea Pool’s The Passion of Augustine. She released her first pop music EP under her first name in September 2020: Maison-Dieu.

Poétique, Groovy, Funk par moment et Soul dans son ensemble, Yao, de sa voix grave, réussit à charmer par l’univers chaleureux de sa douce poésie et par son audace artistique. Son écriture imagée – empreinte d’une très grande sensibilité – nous rappelle la richesse textuelle du rap français de MC Solaar, d’Abdel Malik ou d’Oxmo Puccino, avec un côté pop éclectique – où les univers musicaux se succèdent et s’entrelacent à travers les frasques de ce poète.

De son côté, Govrache offre ie poésie moderne ainsi qu’une interprétation juste et incarnée. Il présente un ensemble aussi musical que poétique oscillant entre slam et hip-hop.

Poetic, Groovy, Funk at times and Soul on the whole, Yao, with his deep voice, succeeds in charming with the warm universe of his sweet poetry and his artistic audacity. His pictorial writing – marked by a great sensitivity – reminds us of the textual richness of the French rap of MC Solaar, Abdel Malik or Oxmo Puccino, with an eclectic pop side – where the musical universes follow one another and intertwine through the antics of this poet.

For his part, Govrache offers a modern poetry as well as a fair and embodied interpretation. He presents a set as musical as poetic oscillating between slam and hip-hop.
