Fille de deux immigrants de première génération, apologiste des causes féministes et lGBTQ+, elle aborde la musique comme un outil de changement social, attaquant aussi l’inaction face à la crise climatique et la disparité entre les sales riches et les moins nanti.e.s — bien qu’elle s’adonne parfois à des propos plus sentimentaux ou qu’elle fasse état de son amour des pâtes alimentaires.

With her 3rd EP titled “Amuse-Bouche,” released a few months ago, the luxemburgian singer/songwriter persists in ploughing furrows covered with hyperpop, alt-pop and noise/industrial influences. The daughter of two first generation immigrants, and supporters of feminist and lGBTQ+ causes, she approaches music as a tool for social change, also attacking the inaction on the climate crisis and the disparity between the filthy rich and the less fortunate—although she sometimes indulges in more sentimental remarks or mentions her love for pasta.

Goth pop duo fauxcils excavate and sift the weighted pasts of Jenn Herd and Dunstan Topp, two francophone artists from Sudbury, Ontario. Fueled from cold love, androgynous fashion and synthesizers, fauxcils burn a lush soundscape of sequin sequences, drum machines, chorused instruments and painted faces.

Swim Team est un groupe de rock 3 pièces originaire de Vancouver. Durant ces 3 dernières années le groupe a passé tout leur temps à travaillé sur leur troisième album Hurricane, qui incorpore des éléments de pop, de dance musique ainsi que d’autres expérimentations électroniques.

Swim Team is a three-piece rock band from Vancouver, BC. Over the last 3 years, the band has been working on their third full-length album “Hurricane”, which incorporates elements of Pop and Dance music, as well as further electronic experimentation.

Gorgeous est un groupe de noise pop basé à New York. Leur premier album, Egg, est sorti en 2019 avec Sad Cactus Records–quelques singles se sont matérialisés en 2021 et un deuxième album complet vous chatouillera les tympans dans un avenir pas trop lointain.

Gorgeous is a two-piece noise pop band from New York City. The band’s first full length ‘Egg’ was released in 2019 by Sad Cactus Records; a couple of singles materialized in 2021 and a second full length album is nearing completion and will be tickling ear drums in the not too distant future.

Zuffalo s’est formé à partir d’un amour partagé pour des groupes tels que les Beatles, Grateful Dead et James Brown. Une nuit à Toronto en 2016, Mikey et Kim ont recruté Sean pour jouer de la guitare et créer leur propre mélange de musique avec ces héros en tête ; rencontrant plus tard Eric qui les a rejoints en 2019. Avec un intérêt mutuel pour l’improvisation, stimulé par la formation en jazz de tous les membres du groupe et la formation en musicothérapie de Kim, les joueurs de Zuffalo aiment tisser des notes et des rythmes les uns autour des autres et peindre de nouvelles idées musicales à la volée.

David is an innovative singer/songwriter and astonishing guitar player, known for his spontaneously driven live performances. His songs have an open alt/folk style that’s also been described as “Beatlesque”.

Zuffalo was formed out of a shared love for bands such as the Beatles, Grateful Dead and James Brown. One night in Toronto in 2016, Mikey and Kim recruited Sean to play guitar and create their own blend of music with these heroes in mind; later meeting Eric who joined in 2019. With a mutual interest in improvisation, boosted by the jazz training of all band members and Kim’s music therapy background, the Zuffalo players love to weave notes and beats around each other and paint new musical ideas on the fly.

OMBIIGIZI – prononcé om-BEE-ga-ZAY, ce qui signifie “c’est bruyant” – est une collaboration entre Zoon (Daniel Monkman) et Status/Non Status (Adam Sturgeon), des artistes Anishnaabe qui explorent leurs histoires culturelles à travers le son. Leur musique commune est une rumination sur la famille, une célébration et un nettoyage holistique, avec un fort sentiment d’unité et de soutien affectueux. Amalgame de leurs héritages indigènes et de leurs architectures musicales personnelles, Daniel et Adam imprègnent leurs textes des récits de leurs familles, révélant des vérités et trouvant un terrain d’entente au milieu de leurs différences.

OMBIIGIZI – pronounced om-BEE-ga-ZAY, meaning this is noisy – is a collaboration between Zoon (Daniel Monkman) and Status/Non Status (Adam Sturgeon), Anishnaabe artists who explore their cultural histories through sound. Suoni Per Il Popolo : Uyarakq and Charlotte Carleton at Casa Del Popolo

Uyarakq, originaire de Nuuk, au Groenland, est une force contemporaine majeure de la scène hip-hop et rap Autochtone circumpolaire. Avec son groupe Silla and Rise, Charlotte Carleton a ouvert le concept de la musique inuite en plaçant le chant guttural dans un contexte contemporain. Ensemble, à Suoni, ces deux artistes présenteront un spectacle immersif et collaboratif. Ce spectacle a lieu en même temps que l’exposition ‘ᐊᖏᕐᕋᒧᑦ / Ruovttu Guvlui / Towards Home’ du CCA, une exposition dirigée par des Autochtones qui explore comment les Inuits, les Samis et d’autres communautés de l’Arctique créent des espaces autonomes. L’artiste et conservatrice montréalaise Asinnajaq, alias Isabella Weetaluktuk, a organisé une programmation additionnelle pour la soirée.

Uyarakq, hailing from Nuuk, Greenland, is a major contemporary force within the Indigenous circumpolar hip-hop and rap scene. With her group Silla and Rise, Charlotte Carleton has been expanding the concept of Inuit music, putting throat singing in a contemporary context. Together at Suoni, these two will present an immersive, collaborative set. This show is happening in conjunction with the CCA’s ‘ᐊᖏᕐᕋᒧᑦ / Ruovttu Guvlui / Towards Home’, an Indigenous-led exhibit exploring how Inuit, Sámi, and other communities across the Arctic are creating self-determined spaces. Montreal-based artist and curator Asinnajaq aka Isabella Weetaluktuk curated addtional programming for the evening.

They will be accompanied by the visuals of Justine Durand, Charline Dally and Kim Maurice. An event that promises to be as captivating as it is diverse!

He’s a member of the Kamancello duo with Shahriyar Jamshid, a player of the Kurdish kamancheh (a bowed string instrument with a timre similar to a violin’s), and has participated in more than a hundred recordings, many of them for film and television. He’s performed at several festivals, played with Pauline Oliveros and Dutch cellist Ernst Reijseger, recorded and toured with the Norwegian progressive rock/metal band Leprous… but had no solo album to his credit. Tonight’s concert is just the occasion for its release. The music is intimate, even enveloping, with rich ambiences that unfold in space like the northern lights we sometimes see undulating in the summer sky.
