Tucana is a newer noise alt-punk group out of Ottawa, bringing a reinvigorated energy to the genre. In-the-red feedback-y guitars, a poppy punk vocal style ala PUP, and enough explosive drumming, bass and distortion to make your head spin in ecstasy.
The newest single, “Spirit Bomb,” gives that same youthful rowdy feeling as an Alexisonfire track circa 2004, and has a few lyrical references to the debaucherous nightlife of Montreal. We’ve got the “sour taste of 2 chow,” gritty Dep wine, and the never-ending labyrinth of construction woes. The outro gets a bit more post-hardcore, keeping the chaotic energy. The track was mixed by Dave Traina (The Damn Truth, Family Man) and mastered by Harry Hess (Arkells, Billy Talent, PUP).
