Magick Brother & Mystic Sister is a project from Barcelona that formed during the pandemic, fusing jazz fusion psychedelia with sitar ragas, space-age synths, and other hallucinogenic instrumentations to create a sonic kaleidoscope. Their music has that experimental psych-pop quality of someone like Elephant Stone or The Black Angels, but also the hair brained music of Acid Mothers Temple or Incredible String Band. They’ve decided to make a concept album based on the Tarot card deck, so we can expect 20 or so more songs from them, but the first is “The Hierophant,” the one meant to interpret the arcane and unexplainable. I’d say the song fits the vibe and while I wouldn’t throw this on unless I wanted to trip, the track has got legs.
