The legendary pianist’s return to the studio after 25 years of absence is with a sombre side worthy of his personality: Schubert’s last two piano sonatas. Faithful to himself, the interpreter slightly “modifies” the works by adopting unusual tempi and extreme nuances. An album that deserves several listenings to appreciate the multitude of details and phrasing that enrich this unique interpretation. Classic Zimerman.
