Under the pseudonym Noname, Fatimah Nyeema Warner first turned heads in 2016 with her promising mixtape Telefone. Room 25, her debut album released in 2018, clearly positioned the young Chicago woman at the heights of African-American musical refinement. The credibility of her autobiographical revelations, the relevance of her observations, the accuracy of her pen, her appealing dry wit, the flexibility and beautiful articulation of her flow, the softness of her voice, her openness to jazz in a hip hop/R&B context, these are all characteristics that make Noname an important name in hip hop.
