The unexpected return of the English band to whom we owe Loveless, the ultimate masterpiece of ’90s shoegaze. m b v is the logical follow-up, with the familiar guitar tones perfected by Kevin Shield, the voices of the two singers in the background, and multiple layers of texture serving as the canvas. Although uneven, the album confirms that My Bloody Valentine are still the masters of the sound they invented, many times imitated but never equalled.
