One of an artist’s cardinal virtues is to know how to combine genres and broaden their sound palette while developing and preserving a signature. On In Colour, Jamie XX succeeds in reconciling the two with brio. Although his collaboration with Young Thug and Popcaan produces the most immediately enjoyable song, the entire album is exciting. And then there’s the additional voice of Romy Madley Croft, the singer of XX— no disappointment there.
