A forward-thinking syncretism of Afro-Caribbean vocabulary with digitized percussion, this album succeeds in walking the line between the sacred and the profane, traditional and pop, with a raw elegance. The profound spirituality of the album shines through the quirky creativity of leader/vocalist/percussionist Otura Mun, an ordained Yoruba priest. Their memorable first performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival was a treat for the ears and eyes.
