The debut album from this London-based troupe, led by charismatic vocalist Eno Williams, is like a throwback to a future time in which traditional Ibibio-language vocals and Afrobeat rhythms mingle with spacey analog synthesizers and drum machines. The band, populated by some heavyweights including guitarist Alfred Kari Bannerman (Osibisa, Pat Thomas), struts to a decidedly disco and even post-punk aesthetic through these ten songs, but with exemplary restraint and taste.
